The grand entrance into Delhi's famous Red Fort

Day 1: Delhi

Upon arrival into Delhi, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or independently explore this bustling capital.

Day 2: Delhi

Enjoy a half day sightseeing of Old Delhi, including Jama Mosque, Red Fort (closed Mondays) and experience a rickshaw ride in the bylanes of the old city. Optional enhance option available today: New Delhi. Also, available is the Cooking Class in Delhi at AUD$89 per person.

Day 3: Delhi - Varanasi

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. At sunset, we visit the ghats for the evening pilgramage, remarkably different from the dawn ritual.

Day 4: Varanasi

This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Rest of the day at leisure. Optional enhance option available today: Varanasi up close or The Buddha in Varanasi.

Day 5: Varanasi - Khajuraho

Transfer to the airport for your flight to arrive in Khajuraho - home of the resplendent Hindu temples which were built during the Chandela dynasty over a 100 year burst of creative genius from 950-1050 AD. Immortalised in stone, the carved temples display exceedingly artistic aspects of Indian life a millennium ago. You are met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a spectacular sound and light show,

Day 6: Khajuraho

Enjoy a half day tour to visit the Eastern & Western group of Temples of Khajuraho. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 7: Khajuraho - Agra

Travelling by road to Jhansi, en route we stop at Orchha for a half day tour. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, Orchha is set amongst a wonderful complex of well-preserved 16th century temples and palaces. Arriving at Jhansi train station, we train onto Agra. You will be met at Agra train station and transferred to your hotel.

Day 8: Agra

We visit the impressive Agra Fort before touring Baby Taj. This afternoon at leisure.

Day 9: Agra - Ranthambhore NP

Touring the legendary Taj Mahal (closed Fridays) and witnessing a glorious golden sunset. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz, who tragically died in childbirth in 1631, the Taj Mahal in Agra is described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love and remains one of India’s most enduring symbols. After breakfast, we drive to Bharatpur to board the train to Ranthambore. Arriving in Ranthambore, you are met at the train station and transferred to your hotel. En route to Ranthambore, we stop to visit Fatehpur Sikri, former imperial capital of the great Mughal emperor Akbar.

Days 10-11: Ranthambhore NP

Ranthambhore National Park is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. Enjoy both morning and evening game drives with some time to relax during the day.

Day 12: Ranthambhore NP - Jaipur

Enjoy the scenic drive from Ranthambore to the capital of Rajasthan Jaipur.

Day 13: Jaipur

Visit the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride (subject to elephant availability and government regulations) transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. This afternoon at leisure.

Day 14: Jaipur

Day at leisure in Jaipur. Optional enhance option available today: Jaipur up close. There is also the Dera Amer Safari at AUD$230 - Enjoy a scenic safari by elephant from Dera Amer rural estate through the Arvalli Hills, taking in the wonderful rural scenery and perhaps spot antelopes and jackals which are in abundance in the area. The safari concludes with a delicious dinner served in a beautiful rural setting exclusively for you. Also, available is the Ballooning in Jaipur at AUD$299 per person or the Cooking Class in Jaipur at AUD$79 per person.

Day 15: Jaipur - Kochi

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Kochi via Mumbai. You will be met in Kochi and transferred to your hotel.

Day 16: Kochi

Enjoy a half day walking tour of Old Kochi, including Dutch Palace & St Francis Church. (Synagogues are closed on Fridays and Saturdays). This evening, witness a traditional Kathakali dance performance.

Day 17: Kochi - Munnar

A drive east to to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. This afternoon, visit the Tea Museum and Factory (Tea Museum closed Mondays).

Day 18: Munnar

Today, we visit a Tea Plantation.

Day 19: Munnar - Alleppey

Travel by road to Alleppey to board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Alleppey. Crewed by a poler to push the rice boat through the water, a distance of some 20 kms will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colourful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.

Day 20: Alleppey

Disembarking at Alleppey, you’ll be driven the short distance back to Kochi airport.
