This morning we visit the Elephanta caves - Mumbai's premier tourist attraction. The rock-cut temples on peaceful Elephanta Island contain large sculpted panels, including an astonishing 18-foot depiction of Shiva. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour one of the most highly populated cities in the world. Highlights include the Prince of Wales Museum, Gateway of India and Marine drive.
Today we will transfer you to the train station in Mumbai for the train journey to Aurangabad. Upon arrival we will meet you there and transfer to our hotel.
Today we visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Ellora Caves. The 34 "caves" – actually structures excavated out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills – comprised of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain cave temples and monasteries, were built between the 5th century and 10th century. These are the epitome of Indian rock-cut architecture.
Today we visit the Ajanta Caves site. The first Buddhist cave monuments here date from the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C. During the Gupta period (5th and 6th centuries A.D.), many more richly decorated caves were added to the original group. The paintings and sculptures of Ajanta, considered masterpieces of Buddhist religious art, have had a considerable artistic influence.
This morning we transfer for the train to Mumbai. Upon arrival into Mumbai you will be met and transferred to a nearby restaurant for lunch. (paid locally). Later we are taken to the train station for our connecting train through to Surat, where on arrival we will transfer you to your hotel.
Today you will have a car and driver at your disposal to visit your ancestral homes in Surat.
This morning we transfer to the train station for the trip to Ahmedabad. Upon arrival we will collect you and transfer to our hotel. This afternoon we visit the Gandhi Nagar Gandhi Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi lived between 1917 and 1930.
This morning we drive to Mt Abu. Upon arrival we transfer directly to our hotel. Sightseeing this afternoon takes us to the Dilwara Temples and Gurushika. We also visit Sunset Point - which as the name suggests, offers some spectacular views from this hill station.
This morning we drive on to Udaipur. We transfer to our hotel on arrival. Rest of the day at leisure.
This morning will consist of an orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. This evening you will take ride in an private boat on Lake Pichola itself.
This morning enjoy a half day sightseeing trip of India's "Blue City". Sights include Umaid Bhawan Palace, Meherangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Mandore Garden. Later today we drive to Manvar and transfer to the Manvar Camps overnight.
This morning enjoy a half day city sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer. This evening we venture a short distance from the city to enjoy an evening camel ride on the beautiful Sam Sand dunes.
Today we drive to Khimsar. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Khimsar Fort at leisure.
Today we drive onwards to Jaipur. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Jaipur at leisure.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride (subject to availability and government regulations) transports us to the lofty fort, where you will enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon you tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
After breakfast we will head off to Agra - home to of India's most famous monuments - the Taj Mahal. En route we will also pay a visit to the ghostly former Moghul city of Fatehpur Sikri - the fortified ghost city abandoned soon after its construction because of water shortages in the area. We enjoy lunch at Bharatpur before continuining to Agra.
What better place to be than Agra for your 30th Wedding anniversary?! At sunset we visit the Taj Mahal - the powerful Moghul emperor’s monument to love. We also take in Agra Fort and a marble factory today. This evening we return to the Taj Mahal to watch the sunset, before you will enjoy an special anniversary dinner at the Taj Khema Restaurant.
This morning we drive to the train station to board the train to Sawai Madhopur. (Ranthambhore NP). Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel. This afternoon we join a jeep game drive through the National Park - keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife on display!
Today we enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives through the national park.
This morning we enjoy a final game drive before later heading to the train station for the journey to Delhi. Arriving in Delhi this evening we will be there to meet you and transfer to our hotel overnight.
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Early this morning we transfer to the train station for the journey to Haridwar. Upon arrival we transfer to our hotel near Rishikesh. (please note hotel Glasshouse on the Ganges is approximately 20klms from central Rishikesh).
