Today is the start of your of your Indian adventure. We will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the time you have at your leisure.
The next two days you are free to explore Mumbai, There’s plenty to see and do in Mumbai - maybe go in search of wildlife at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park - home to leopards cobras and more, or feed the holy cows at Bombay Panjrapole trust. You can also take a scenic horse and buggy ride along Marine drive towards Chowpatty Beach
After breakfast we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Kolkata. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel where you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure. Alison arrives into Kolkata, is met at the airport and transferred to the hotel.
Enjoy a sightseeing tour in the morning which will include the Flower market and Howrah Bridge.
You have a free morning to explore and then early this evening, you’ll board the Darjeeling Mail train. In air conditioned 1st class sleeper accommodation, relax as the train heads north to Darjeeling
Early this morning, you’ll continue the journey to Darjeeling by car. Sitting at a spectacular altitude of 2124m with a backdrop consisting of mighty snow-clad Himalayan peaks and surrounded by verdant tea plantations. Owing to Darjeeling’s proximity to Tibet, the town has a Tibetan Refugee Centre comprising care for the young and old and craft workshops that produce carpets, leather work and other Tibetan curios.
Early morning, we enjoy a drive to Tiger Hill to catch sunrise over the snowy peaks of Kanchenjunga - the world’s third highest mountain. Continuing to the Ghoom Gompa (monastery) followed by city sightseeing and a visit to a tea estate.
Today we drive to New Jalpaiguri to catch the Varanasi North-East Express train (2nd class A/C sleeper) to Varanasi.
Arriving early this morning to Mughalsarai, we drive to Varanasi. Varanasi or the city of Shiva, is the holiest Hindu pilgrimage destination in India. Abundant with temples and streets that resemble a mass of tangled shoe laces, Varanasi is one of India’s most colourful cities, later we enjoy a city sightseeing tour.
Early morning today we boat ride on the holy Ganges to witness the sunrise and the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the famous riverside ghats (steps) that line the banks.
This morning we travel by train to Agra. Alison leaves for the airport for her 19.40 flight arriving into Delhi at 21.00 and staying one night at the Hotel City Park Hotel.
An early morning arrival in Agra allows you the chance to relax. Visits to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and marble craft shop later this afternoon. Alison is transferred to the airport for her onward flight home.
This morning we travel to Jaipur by train, upon arrival we will check you into your hotel where you have the rest of the day at your leisure.
Early this morning we travel beyond Jaipur to the stunning 16th century Amber Fort - a sprawling Rajput concoction which hugs the hill on which it was built and overlooks the hot plains below. Arriving at the top we'll tour the fort’s well-preserved interior and grounds. Back in Jaipur, enjoy the remains of the day your way.
This morning after breakfast we take a train journey back to Delhi. On arrival we check you into the hotel where you have the remainder of the day at your leisure.
This morning embark on a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid mosque and the bazaars of Chandni Chowk. This afternoon, enjoy the sights of New Delhi including the majestic India Gate, Rajpath and Connaught Place. A visit is also made to Qutab Minar, a massive tower built to proclaim the arrival of Islam in India in the 11th century and a carpet emporium.
This morning after breakfast we will take you a very successful cooking course where you will learn some fantastic traditional Indian cuisine which you can share will friends when you are back home.
Today is the end of your Indian adventure, we will transfer you back to the airport and wave you goodbye as you board your flight home.
