Day 1: Kolkata

Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! You will be met at Kolkata International Airport by our friendly local team and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure to explore or relax as you like.

Day 2: Kolkata

This cultural city is an amazing example of East meets West. Enjoy a sightseeing tour which includes a visit to the Victoria Memorial. Opened by the Prince of Wales in 1921, this imposing vision in marble often called the “Taj” of the British Raj overlooks the grassy Maidan, the city’s green belt. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore independently - If you fancy an insight into Hinduism why not visit the temple dedicated to Kali named as Kalighat, ask any taxi driver they know where it is. Or how about High Tea in the style of the Raj at the The Promenade Lounge - Taj Bengal Hotel?

Day 3: Kolkata - New Jalpaiguri

Enjoy the day to further explore! Perhaps head to the Hooghly river and haggle with a boat walla to see the sites from the river? This evening you will travel toward the mighty Himalayan ranges by sleeper train, a must-do experience for any visitor young or old! The friendly locals will be vying for a chat with you. Day 4: New Jalpaiguri - Darjeeling

Your train arrives into New Jalpaiguri in the morning to the start of a new day and the gathering hustle and bustle. Our rep will be waiting for you , but make sure you take a moment to try some chai, hot tea usually made with Buffalo Milk from one of the vendors, before transferring to Siliguri to have breakfast at a local restaurant. After we continue the drive to Darjeeling - Check into your hotel and relax for the remainder of the day.

Day 5: Darjeeling

Early morning we enjoy a drive to Tiger Hill to catch sunrise over the snowy peaks of Kanchenjunga - the world’s third highest mountain. Continuing to the Ghoom Gompa (monastery) with a ride on the famous Toy Train. In the afternoon a city sightseeing tour including the world known mountaineering institute and a visit to a tea estate to see how the worlds favourite hot drink is grown and processed.

Day 6: Darjeeling - Varanasi

Today enjoy a little free time to explore - Later we will transfer you back to New Jalpaiguri station to catch the sleeper back to the plains of India and one of the holiest places to Hindus on earth, Varanasi (North East Express 1720:0800+1 hours).

Day 7: Varanasi

Arriving into Mughal Sarai station, remember our advise about enjoying delicious tea to warm the cockles. Onward short transfer to Varanasi and check into your hotel. Later in the afternoon we will take you on a guided journey to see the famous sites of the city, then head out of town to visit the famous Buddhist holy sight of Sarnath. This is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the five holy men; preaching the middle way to final 'NIRVANA’.

Day 8: Varanasi - Delhi

Early morning we head for a boat ride on the holy Ganges to witness the sunrise and the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the famous riverside ghats (steps) that line the banks. After breakfast back at the hotel we take to the sky and fly to Delhi. Arriving in the bustling capital of India meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. Head out this afternoon to explore independently, we would highly recommend a walk past the government buildings to see them in all there glory, or how about a visit to the Akshardham Temple though not to old it is built in the style and technique of a bygone era.

Day 9: Delhi

Say farewell to incredible India! We will ensure to transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
