Day 1: Kolkata - Varanasi

Today we will collect you and transfer you to the airport in time for your 15:05 direct flight to Varanasi. Arriving here at 16:50, you will meet our driver who takes you onto your hotel. This evening our guide will take you down to the Ghats to see the evening ritual worship of the sacred River Ganga or Ganga Mata as she affectionately named.

Day 2: Varanasi

Early morning we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps) Later, we undertake guided tour of many of the cities main attractions and then conclude the day exploring Sarnath, which is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon.

Day 3: Varanasi - Khajuraho

After a relaxing breakfast we head off to the airport for your flight to Khajuraho. Arriving here, meet our local guide who will take you to explore the stunning temples built in the Chandela dynasty over a 100 year burst of creative genius from 950 - 1050AD. The carved temples display exceedingly artistic aspects of Indian life a millennium ago.

Day 4: Khajuraho - Agra

This morning early rise and head off to the train station in Jhansi. Stopping along the way to have free time to explore and eat lunch in Orchha. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, Orchha is dotted with temples and palaces built by Bundela rulers, which you will have time to explore. From Jhansi catch the train to Agra, where you arrive in the evening we will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 5: Agra - Jaipur

This morning we explore the Taj Mahal and witness a magical sunrise. Built by Shah Jahan in the 16th century as an enduring memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz, the Taj Mahal is without peer. After we drive to Jaipur. Stopping along the way to visit the ancient fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area.

Day 6: Jaipur

This morning an exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty 16th century Amber Fort for a guided tour. We then spend the afternoon exploring the City Palace containing an interesting museum of regal attire. Just over the road is Jantar Mantar, an observatory of astronomy built by Jai Singh in 1728. At first glance, Jantar Mantar resembles a sculpture park, though in fact, each construction has a specific scientific purpose. Some measure the positions of stars, whilst others calculate eclipses, the lunar calendar and simply the time of day. Even today, most of the constructions remain accurate!

Day 7: Jaipur - Udaipur

Today we have a wonderful scenic drive through rural India to Udaipur. Along the way we will stop to so you have free time for lunch and exploring the incredible Chittorgarh Fort, which is considered the largest and most important preserved historic forts in the entire country.

Day 8: Udaipur

This morning will consist of an orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. Later, we drive you to the Monsoon Palace where you will get to see a magical sunset and incredible views of the lake and Udaipur city down below.

Day 9: Udaipur

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Delhi - Arriving in Delhi, you are at your own arrangements.
