An early morning start as we drive to Agra - home of India's famous attraction - the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. Later this afternoon we visit Agra fort built under the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 that contains numerous palaces and a white marble mosque and the Baby Taj. Next we head to the iconic Taj Mahal for sunset.
This morning we will take a drive out to the ghostly fortifed city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandonded only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area continiuing on you will arrive in to Jaipur 'The Pink City'. In the afternoon enjoy some free time to relax.
This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style riding on an elephant! In the afternoon you will enjoy a tour of the city. Highlights include the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Today we drive to Mandava where you can experience semi desert (small dunes) and village life. Remainder of the afternoon at leisure.
Today we drive from Mandawa to Delhi Airport where you will board your flight to Kochi (6E 515 -13:50 / 16:55). Arrive Kochi and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Hotel.
This commercial city, also called “The Queen of the Arabian Sea” is famous for its exquisite designer Gold Jewelry. The Indian Navy, the Port and the Airport share the largely man-made Willingdon Island. The touring today includes the visit to Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese for a local King in 1555 A.D. The famous Jew Street, a cul-de-sac leading to the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568. A walking tour of Fort Cochin will take you through the streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch & British colonial architecture, including a few old trading factories, the only ones still standing anywhere in the world.
This morning we drive east to Munnar, a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Overnight at the Tall Tree Hotel.
Morning with our local guide you will visit a Tea Garden & Tea factory thus seeing how the process works from growing to picking to processing what for most of us brits is the preferred hot drink. Afternoon at your leisure to explore, wander and enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings.
Today we take a short drive south to Periyar, South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds and even the odd tiger! This afternoon enjoy a nature walk and visit to a local spice plantation. Overnight at Tree Top Hotel.
This morning you will enjoy a tranquil boat ride, drift silently along the water's of Lake Periyar, spotting wild elephent herds and many of the varied wildlife the park has to offer. Afternoon at leisure.
Today sit back and enjoy the scenery as we transfer you by road to the beach resort of Kovalam (approx. 8hr drive). Upon your arrival into Kovalam, check in to your hotel.
The next two days are completely at leisure for you to enjoy Kovalam as you choose.
This morning we will transfer you to Triavandrum Airport for your flight to Mumbai (6E 176 - 1100 / 1305) where upon your arrival you will be met and transferred to the airport.
