Day 1: Delhi

Namaste! Welcome to New Delhi, the capital city of India and the start of your eye-opening adventure! Our friendly team will be waiting in the arrivals hall to transfer you to your hotel where you can relax for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Delhi

This morning enjoy a guided exploration of New Delhi which has been the capital city of the Republic of India since Independence and is home to many historic monuments as well as impressive Raj-era architecture. Largely planned and built by the British, the central administrative area of the city was laid out as a testament to Britain's imperial pretensions. Sights include Qutab Minar, Humayun tomb and India Gate. Later explore Old Delhi; with its predominantly Muslim population and Mughal architecture, it is comprised mostly of a labyrinth of tiny lanes crowded with rickshaws, and lined with run-down 17th-century havelis. Visits include the Red Fort and Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque.

Day 3: Delhi - Amritsar

This morning we take you to the station to catch the Express train to Amritsar (07:10 - 13:10 - First Class Seating) Arriving into the city, our driver will get you to the hotel for a nights rest.

Day 4: Amritsar

This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the historic Amritsar, including the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh. Amritsar’s main attraction - the beautiful Golden Temple, is made of white marble, bronze and gold leaf. The Jallianwala Bagh is a particularly sacred place for all Indians today, as it is associated with a poignant episode in India’s freedom struggle. This afternoon travel to the only border crossing between India and Pakistan. Here we witness the fascinating ‘Retreat’ ceremony which takes place with the BSF on the Indian Side of the Border. The changing of the guards and the ceremonial lowering of the flags ceremony is carried out with great pomp.

Day 5: Amritsar - Delhi

Free time in the day to do your own thing - sightsee, shop or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere. In the evening you will be transferred to the railway station to board your express train to Delhi, arriving shortly before midnight. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel.

Day 6: Delhi - Agra

After breakfast we take a drive to the city of Agra, where you will be met by our local guide, and head off to visit the stunning Agra Fort. We continue onto India's most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal. Here you learn the story of the Taj before having free time to explore and watch the sunset.

Day 7: Agra

Today is at your leisure to explore the city.

Day 8: Agra - Jaipur

Today we leave Agra for our journey to Jaipur. En route, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. To break up the journey, we have included a late lunch stop between Bharatpur and Jaipur.

Day 9: Jaipur

This morning an exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty Amber Fort of Jaipur, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Decorate yourself in colourful flowers as we stop to visit a local flower market on the way back to the hotel. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory. Later in the day enjoy a walking tour of the bustling Bazaar.

Day 10: Jaipur - Jodhpur

An interesting drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo. Along the way we will stop for some lunch in the Holi town of Pushkar where you can have a wander around the ancient temples the town is renowned for.

Day 11: Jodhpur

Today we’ll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower.

Day 12: Jodhpur - Udaipur

Continuing our journey we move onto Udaipur. Aliong the way we will make a stop to exp[lore the fantastically preserved Kumbhalgarh Fort which was built during the course of the 15th and is considered one of the most important forts in India. After time to explore at your leisure and have some lunch we drive you the last 90 KM to Udaipur city. This evening we drive half an hour out of the city to the Monsoon Palace to witness the sunset and experience a magical atmosphere at twilight.

Day 13: Udaipur

This morning after a leisurely breakfast we will head down to the lake and enjoy a splendid row-boat ride. Take in the spectacular scenery of the Aravalli Hills as they are revealed with the lifting cloak of early morning mist. After, enjoy a guided orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. Later in the early evening enjoy a thrilling tuk tuk ride through the narrow streets stopping to take in the sites. Day 14: Udaipur - Kochi

The allure of the tropical south beckons today, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Kochi. This evening meet with our local expert guide who will take you for a walk along the harbour front to see the traditional Chinese fishing nets and give you an orientation of the city.

Day 15: Kochi

Enjoy a day to relax and enjoy the more laid back environs of South India we would recommend you head out and explore Fort Cochin which will take you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture and be sure to visit the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568.

Day 16: Kochi - Alleppey

This morning board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Alleppey. Crewed by a poler to push the rice boat through the water, a distance of some 20 kms will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colourful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.

Day 17: Alleppey - Kovalam

Disembarking at Alleppey, you’ll be driven further south to the beach side resort city of Kovalam (8 hour drive).

Days 18-21: Kovalam

For your days in Kovalam with us really relax. Stroll for miles along white palm fringed sandy beaches, try sampling the local seafood and sipping cocktails on your sunlounger the perfect remedy to unwind.

Day 22: Kovalam - Mumbai

Your time relaxing on the beach has come to an end, our driver will collect you in reception and take off to the airport for your flight to Mumbai. Welcome to Mumbai or Bombay, as it was formerly known, which remains India’s city of dreams. Here, our local office team will be taking you onto your hotel.

Day 23: Mumbai

Today we embark on a glittering city tour, with a morning visit to the cave temples of Elephanta Island sculpted during the 5th to the 8th centuries. In the afternoon visit the Prince of Wales museum, Marine Drive and the Mani Bhawan Jain temple.

Day 24: Mumbai

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to Mumbai Airport in time for your flight home.
