Legendary Taj Mahal and witness a magical sunrise. Built by Shah Jahan in the 16th century as an enduring memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers. En route to Bharatpur, we visit ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. This magnificent fortified city was the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned dramatically due to a lack of water to support the peoples who resided in the city. Thanks to the very durable red sandstone, from which it was built, Fatehpur Sikri remains fantastically preserved. Upon arrival into Bharatpur board the train departing approx. 18:46 to Jaipur arriving 22:00. Upon arrival we will be there to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.

Today we continue onto Jaisalmer, one of the jewels in India’s crown. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient lane ways. During our stay in this stunning Rajasthani fortress town we’ll enjoy some touring.
An interesting drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert.
This morning enjoy a city sightseeing tour. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo. We’ll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower. The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to relax.
Leaving Jodhpur, we drive to Ranakpur, a small town tucked away in a remote valley and famed for its beautiful 14th century Jain temples (tour without guide) and then continue onto Udaipur.
An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian-like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples. Early this morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight departing approx. 06:55 to Mumbai arriving approx. 08:10. Your next flight departs Mumbai at approx. 13:25 and arrives into Kochi at approx. 15:30. Upon arrival we will be there to pick you up and transfer you approx. 4 hours to Munnar for the evening.

At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Today we visit a Tea Garden and plantation with a bit of light hiking.
Today you will be transferred to Allepey. Upon arrival we board a simply furnished private boat for a journey through the lush backwaters. Our private houseboat takes us sedately along the enchanting palm-fringed backwaters, covering a distance of some 20 kms, during which time the boat glides past local villages and interesting scenes of everyday rural life. Watch a beautiful sunset over the backwaters and enjoy tasty meals (starting with lunch) prepared by the onboard chef using fresh local produce.
After breakfast we disembark the houseboat at Kumarakom. Perched sleepily amongst a tangle of verdant tropical waterways, the area is known as the Keralan backwaters, Kumarakom is technically a cluster of islands on Lake Vembanad - one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes.
This is an ideal place to relax for the next one days, enjoy the beautiful scenery and laid back pace.
Today marks the end of our memorable journey. After breakfast we travel back to Kochi and transfer to the airport.
