For a special treat we drive to the desert camp of Manvar – literally in the middle of nowhere. Mop the sweat off your brow and hope for an imminent oasis as we trek by camel over dusty desert dunes. Safely back at camp under stars of the expansive night sky, we light a bonfire over dinner to the sounds of local musicians.
After breakfast proceed to Jodhpur the 'Sun City' of Rajasthan. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination,featuring many beautiful palaces, Forts and temples,apart from a stark, scenic desert landscape. Arrive Jodhpur and enjoy a visit to The Umaid Bhawan palace Museum, Mehrangarh Fort & Jaswant Thada.
After breakfast proceed to Jaipur the 'Pink City' of Rajasthan. En route visit Pushkar the 'Holy City' of Rajasthan - Brahma Temple - this is said to be only Brahma temple in the world. Also we stop and visit Ajmer Sharif Dargah time for lunch. Then continue on and arrive Jaipur. Evening free at leisure.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
En route to Agra, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, former imperial capital of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. Built between 1569 and 1585, it has been deserted for more than four centuries, by all accounts abandoned in 1600 due to a meagre supply of water. In Agra, we visit the impressive Agra Fort before touring the legendary Taj Mahal and witnessing a glorious golden sunset.
