Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive Delhi, included transfer to hotel.
We’ll then enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of New and Old Delhi.
Departing Delhi, we journey to Agra (roughly 5 hrs). Here we enjoy a horsecart ride to the legendary Taj Mahal. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers. Continuing, we visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings.
En route to Ranthambhore (roughly 5 hrs), we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to lack of water.
Ranthambhore NP is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. We enjoy both morning and evening game drives (shared canter) with some time to relax during the day.
Enjoy an early morning game drive (shared canter) before driving to Jaipur (roughly 4 hrs).
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we continue to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride (subject to elephant availability and government regulations) transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Today, we drive to Pushkar (roughly 3 hrs) and enjoy a free afternoon. Why not visit the Pushkar Lake and Brahma Temple (without a guide).
We travel onto Khimsar by road (roughly 4 hrs). This afternoon enjoy a half hour camel ride in the dunes.
An interesting drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur (roughly 2 hrs), a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo. We’ll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty Mehragharh fort and Cenotaphs and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower.
We have a long drive ahead of us today to Mount Abu (roughly 6 hrs).
Home to rivers, lakes, waterfalls and evergreen forests, we visit Delwara Temple and enjoy free time in Mount Abu - referred to as 'an oasis in the desert'.
Continuing south, we arrive at Udaipur. An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian-like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples. Free afternoon with vehicle at leisure within the city limits.
During our stay we’ll enjoy a cruise (shared boat & subject to water levels) on Lake Pichola, plus touring of the imposing City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Shaliyo Ki Bari Gardnen and Bharti Lok Kala Mandal.
Morning at leisure without vehicle. Later today you will be transferred to the railway station for your overnight train (1st class air con sleeper coach) to Delhi.
On arrival (roughly 06:30am) you will be met and transferred to your hotel (hotel check in time is 14:00).
Departure transfer to the airport.
