Welcome to India! After you have cleared customs and passport control we will transfer your directly to the hotel to check-in and freshen up, after which we will have a chat with you to help you prepare for your time with us.
Our guided sightseeing tour of Delhi today covers the colourful chaos of Old Delhi. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Delhi was important centre of the Mughal dynasty and the British made it the capital city in 1911. We take in Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, the bustling bazaar, as well as the Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana – the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru. This afternoon our exploration takes in India Gate, Rasthrapati Bhawan, Parliament House and Humayun’s Tomb.
Departing Delhi, you journey to Agra, once India’s Mughal capital. Here you enjoy a rickshaw ride to the legendary Taj Mahal. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers. Continuing, you visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind its fortified walls.
After breakfast we will drive to Delhi and take a flight to India's holiest city: Varanasi (6E 118 - 1210 /1425) Upon arrival we will be transferred to our hotel for the evening.
Varanasi - a city abundant with temples and labyrinthine streets. In the early morning of we will enjoy a boat ride on the holy Ganges River. Later in the day we embark on a tour of India’s spiritual city. This evening consider at sunset re-visiting the ghats for the evening pilgrimage, a little different from the dawn ritual.
Breakfast and it's off to the airport for our flight to Goa (Via Delhi - 6E 175 - 1045 / 1220 -/- 6E 335 - 1420 / 1650) Upon our arrival we will head to the hotel and check you in. (OVERNIGHT RADISSON BLU)
Sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter. (OVERNIGHT RADISSON BLU)
Morning transfer to the station for the scenic train journey to Mumbai (Mandovi Express - 0930 / 2140 - 02nd Class Air Condition Carriage) Arriving into Mumbai, our friendly local driver is on hand to transfer you to your hotel.
Mumbai or Bombay, as it was formerly known - remains India’s city of dreams. In the morning we see why with a visit to the Prince of Wales museum, Marine Drive and the Mani Bhawan Jain temple.
Today we embark on a glittering city tour, with a morning visit to the cave temples of Elephanta Island sculpted during the 5th to the 8th centuries.
Enjoy a day to go shopping in the fantastic bazaars of Mumbai.
