Morning drive to Trichy Our city tour includes the enormous Brihadishwara Temple. Built by Raja Raja in 1010, the World Heritage protected temple has a dome weighing an estimated 80 tonnes which was hauled into place along an earth ramp in a manner similar to that used for the Egyptian pyramids. Trichy has been ravaged by war through the centuries. A lasting legacy is the Rock Fort and its temples.
Our journey continues south to Madurai. An important centre for worship and commerce, Madurai has been around since the dawn of civilisation in southern India. A bustling city jam-packed with rickshawallas, pilgrims and traders and resembling a seemingly continuous bazaar crammed to the gunnels with shops, markets and lodgings for tourists and pilgrims. This evening guide will take you to see the worship at Meenakshi Temple.
Morning free time at your leisure. Later a transfer to the airport for your flight to Chennai. (SG 306 - 1500 / 1600) On arrival we will assist with a transfer to your hotel.
This morning onward travel to Mysore by train in comfortable AC chair car class (12007 - Shatabdi Express - 0600 / 1300)- Arrival in Mysore the former capital of the princely state, ruled by Wodeyars dynasty royalty from 1399 - 1947. Enjoy an afternoon with your guide exploring the complex of temples and sacred wonders on offer in this historic city.
This morning you fly to Kochi after a transfer to Bangalore Airport. (AI 510 - 1220 / 1320) Arriving into Kochi our rep is waiting to assist with your transfer to embark your houseboat. Enjoy lunch and dinner on board your private rice barge drifting through Kerala's fames backwaters.
Disembarking your barge after breakfast we drive you to Kochi. After your check in your guide take you on a tour of the town including Fort Kochi, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church.
Day at leisure to explore. Please note that Jewish Synagogue is about 03 Kms from Brunton Boatyard (about 20 – 30 minutes) walking distance. Also note that it’s closed on Fridays, Saturdays and Jewish Holidays. But Jews are allowed to go in the evening time on Fridays and Saturdays also.
