Day 1: Delhi
Namaste! Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! We will pick you up from Delhi airport and transfer you to hotel.
Day 2: Delhi - Bandhavgarh NP
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Jabalpur, flight Air India, departing at 06:55 and arrive 08:10. On arrival we will transfer you to Bandhavgarh. This evening we will take you on a game drive, shared jeep.
Day 3: Bandhavgarh NP
Bandhavgarh is set amidst the Vindhyan ranges. Claiming to have the highest density population of Bengal tiger in India, coupled with a population of leopard, nilgai, jackal, wild boar, sloth bear, gaur, sambar deer and colourful bird life, game drives are often peppered with sightings. There wil be activities organised by the lodge today (no game drives in Bandhavgarh on Wednesdays.)
Day 5: Bandhavgarh NP - Ranthambhore NP
Enjoy a game drive today before we transfer you late afternoon to the train station for the overnight train to Sawai Madhopur.
Day 6: Ranthambhore NP
Ranthambhore National Park is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. Sprawling across an area of some 1334 sq. kms, it is scenically beautiful. In addition to the Bengal tiger, Ranthambhore is home to wild boar, nilgai, sambar deer and a variety of birds. Venture on morning and afternoon game drives in shared jeeps or Canters.
Days 7-8: Ranthambhore NP
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the national park. over the next 2 days.
Day 9: Ranthambhore NP - Udaipur
We will drive you through to Udaipur today, seeing the local lifestyles on the way.
Day 10: Udaipur
Today you'll enjoy a cruise on Lake Pichola, plus touring of the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. The City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Free time to explore the palace or perhaps shop for colourful Rajasthani arts and crafts and Indian spices.
Day 11: Udaipur - Jodhpur
An interesting drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo. We will have a city tour this afternoon and the evening is free to visit the wander around the old city.
Day 12: Jodhpur - Manvar
Today we will drive you to Manvar and check you into the Manvar Desert Camp. Delicious Indian meals are provided in the strategically located dining tent (the Central Durbar) which offers breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset. Evenings are livened up by camp fire, mashaals (Indian camp fire torches), and local musicians and dancers. The experience of sitting on a cushion on the dunes by candlelight while mouth watering snacks are served to you is amazing.
Day 15: Jaipur
This morning, we travel beyond Jaipur to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Day 16: Jaipur - Kalimpong
This morning early we will drive you through to Delhi and to the airport for the flight to Bagdogra. On arrival we will transfer you on to Kalimpong and check you into the hotel.
Day 17: Kalimpong - Gangtok
Leaving Kalimpong, we drive to Gangtok, where the remains of the day are at leisure. Capital of Sikkim, a tiny Himalayan state known for its orchids and flowers and for the heavy influence of Tibetan culture, Gangtok although rapidly developing is still full of charm, thanks to its Buddhist past. Beyond the busy market areas, lie monastic complexes and striking countryside.
Day 18: Gangtok
Today we visit beautiful Rumtek Monastery, Sikkim’s largest and most active monastery, which is located in a lower valley. We then tour Gangtok taking in the Royal Monastery – Tsuklakhang, the Institute of Tibetology and the Orchid Sanctuary. Built in 1958, the Research Institute of Tibetology is world famous for its research activities on the language and culture of Tibet; possessing a library with a large collection of documents and rare books on Buddhism and an attached museum with a rare collection of antiques, coins and Tibetan paintings.
Day 19: Gangtok - Pelling
Today we drive to the beautiful town of Pelling. Situated at an altitude of 6,800 ft, it offers good view of entire mountain ranges including the Koktang, Kumbhakarna, Rathong, Kabru, Dom, Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Zopuno, Shimbho, Narsing, Siniyalchu and others. Pelling is as close as you can get to Kanchenjunga without leaving the material comfort of good hotels. Our excursion leads us to the Pemyangtse monastery you will also have free time to enjoy the spectacular views.
Day 20: Pelling - Darjeeling
Leaving Pelling, we drive to Darjeeling. Sitting at a spectacular altitude of 2124m with a backdrop of mighty snow-clad Himalayan peaks and surrounded by verdant tea plantations, Darjeeling has been a popular hill station since the British established it as an R & R centre for their troops in the mid 19th century. Draw cards include a number of Buddhist monasteries, tea plantations and colourful markets.
Day 21: Darjeeling
This morning you have a toy train ride from Darjeeling departing at 1040 to Ghoom. We will visit Tiger hills and Ghoom monastery. This afternoon we will visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, followed by a visit to a tea estate. If wanting to purchase Darjeeling’s most famous export, consider First Flush Super Fine Tippy Golden Flower Orange Pekoe 1. It’s Darjeeling’s best.
Day 22: Darjeeling - Kolkata
The day today is at leisure for you to explore Darjeeling on your own. We will pick you up early evening and transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Kolkata.
Day 23: Kolkata
We will pick you up from the train station and transfer you to the hotel and check you in. Today you will enjoy a sightseeing tour which includes a visit to the Indian Museum, Jain Temple and Victoria Memorial. Opened by the Prince of Wales in 1921, this imposing vision in marble often called the “Taj” of the British Raj overlooks the grassy Maidan, the city’s green belt.
Day 24: Kolkata
Bid a fond farwell to incredible India, we will be sure to transfer you in time for your flight home.
