Day 1: Old Delhi

Namaste! Welcome to India and New Delhi the capital city of India. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel with the rest of the day yours to relax after your long flight.

Day 2: Old Delhi

Today we enjoy a leisurely exploration of both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.

Day 3: Old Delhi - Shimla

Bright and early this morning we board the Shatabdi Express bound for Kalka. Here transfer (independently) to the narrow gauge Himalayan Queen Toy Train travelling to Shimla along winding cliff side tracks and surrounding spectacular scenery. Arrival and we transfer you to your hotel.

Day 4: Shimla

Today we enjoy a half day guided sightseeing tour of this former British settlement, venturing into the narrow streets, which fall steeply away from the ridge giving way to colourful bazaars and fine views of the surrounding valley and snow-capped peaks. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore.

Day 5: Shimla

Enjoy a free day to explore this wonderful region of India if you fancy a days hiking we can arrange alternately relax at your hotel or go shopping as you wish.

Day 6: Shimla - Udaipur

This morning we fly to Delhi and catch the connecting flight to Udaipur - Arriving into Udaipur 16:15 we transfer you to your hotel. Check in and relax.

Day 7: Udaipur

This morning enjoy touring the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. We then take you to visit Jagdish Temple and Sahelion ki bari followed by a camel ride. This evening we drive half hour to the Monsoon Palace to witness sunset and experience the magic atmosphere at twilight.

Day 8: Udaipur

Half day tour to Ranakpur, a small town tucked away in a remote valley and famed for its beautiful 14th century Jain temples. We’ll enjoy some exploration here and time to relax then return to Udaipur for free time.

Day 9: Udaipur - Jaipur

Today a drive to Shahpura Bagh situated midway between Jaipur and Udaipur. Travellers, since time immemorial, have always stopped to rest and refresh themselves at this oasis and the Shahpura Royal family is famous for their warmth and hospitality which you will get to experience firsthand as they will take you out this evening to see the historic fort and village.

Day 10: Jaipur

Today you can opt to go out for a drive into Rural India with your hosts or simply walk in the local village and or relax at the lovely boutique hotel.

Day 11: Jaipur - Ranthambhore NP

Onward we drive around 4 hrs to Ranthambore National Park which is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur which you will see up close on your evening game drive.

Day 12: Ranthambhore NP

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the national park.

Day 14: Ranthambhore NP - Jaipur

After our final morning game drive we will depart from this wonderful park hopefully having seen some of the elusive tigers. We drive on to Jaipur 'The Pink City' enjoy some free time this evening to relax in this bustling Rajastani city.

Day 15: Jaipur

Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.

Day 16: Jaipur

Free morning to explore. - This afternoon/evening we enjoy a trip to Dera Amer a rural estate located in the surrounding Arravali Hills here we enjoy an elephant safari to see local villages and surrounding scenery followed by a lovely banquet dinner at the estate.

Day 17: Jaipur - Agra

En route to Agra, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, former imperial capital of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. Built between 1569 and 1585, it has been deserted for more than four centuries. Arrival in Agra and we visit the Agra fort and then the Taj Mahal at Sunset. (Today cannot be a Friday)

Day 18: Agra - Orchha

Today, we travel by express train to Jhansi and drive onward to Orchha. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, Orchha is set amongst a wonderful complex of well-preserved 16th century temples and palaces arrival transfer enjoy a guided orientation with your guide.

Day 19: Orchha

Enjoy a day to relax in this beautiful ancient town wander around meet the locals and see all the ancient temples at your leisure.

Day 20: Orchha - Khajuraho

Travelling south-east, we arrive in Khajuraho - home of the resplendent Hindu temples which were built during the Chandela dynasty over a 100 year burst of creative genius from 950-1050 AD. Enjoy a guided tour of the temples and then free time this evening to see them change color at sunset.

Day 21: Khajuraho - Varanasi

This morning some free time to further explore the temlples. This afternoon we bid farewell to Khajuraho and fly east to Varanasi. Arrival transfer to your hotel. This evening your guide will take you to the banks of the river Ganges to see the ritual worship of the holy river.

Day 22: Varanasi

This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing. After breakfast at the hotel enjoy leisurely city tour to take in the key places of importance. This afternoon we visit Sarnath which is where Buddha made his first Sermons preaching the middle way to Nirvana.

Day 23: Varanasi

Free day to explore Varanasi.

Day 24: Varanasi - Kochi

This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Kochi (via Delhi or Mumbai) Arrival and transfer to your hotel. This evening your guide will take you for a walk along the waterfront to see the Chinese fishing nets.

Day 25: Kochi

This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. A walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. Afternoon/evening free time.

Day 26: Kochi - Munnar

A drive east to to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills.

Day 27: Munnar

Today enjoy a relaxing visit to see a tea and spice plantation. You can relax and enjoy the facility of your hotel walk in surrounding countryside.

Day 28: Munnar - Periyar NP

A short drive south to Periyar, South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds and even the odd tiger! Arrival and check into your hotel. Afternoon free time to choose from optional excursions such as boat rides, nature walks and more.

Day 29: Periyar NP

Today free time to choose from optional excursions such as boat rides, nature walks and more.

Day 30: Periyar NP - Kumarakom

A drive to Kumarakom. Perched sleepily on the eastern banks of the mighty Lake Vembanad in the heartland of Kerala’s famed backwaters. Arrival and check into your hotel. Free time.

Day 31: Kumarakom

Enjoy a free day to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Day 32: Kumarakom - Alleppey

This morning board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey from Kumarakom to Alleppey through the backwaters the boat will glide past colourful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.

Day 33: Alleppey - Mararikulam

Disembarking at Alleppey today we drive to nearby Mararikulam for your relaxing beach stay.

Days 34-35: Mararikulam

For your remaining days in India with us really relax. Stroll for miles along white palm fringed sandy beaches, try sampling the local seafood and sipping cocktails on your sunlounger the perfect remedy to unwind.

Day 36: Mararikulam

Today we transfer you to Kochi airport for your flight home.
