Today along with our expert guide, explore Delhi both new and old with visits to the battlemented Red Fort - built by Shah Jahan in the 16th century, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - a marble memorial marking the spot where the great leader- Mahatma Gandhi was cremated after his assassination. We also visit Humayun’s Tomb and India's largest mosque, Qutab Minar.
Early morning we head off to the station and catch the express train to Agra. Here, meet our guide who will take you to visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls. During its history it has been a palace, a fort and a prison! We conclude our touring here with exploring the magnificent Taj Mahal then drive back to Delhi.
This morning we are off to the airport and catch the flight south to Bangalore (G8 115, 0915/1200, Economy) Arriving here, you will see our trusty local driver who will take you onto Mysore.
This morning our guide will take you out to see this city of former glory and grandeur, enchanted admirers with its quaint charm, rich heritage, magnificent palaces, beautifully laid-out gardens, imposing buildings, broad shady avenues and sacred temples. After, we drive to Ooty, arriving here check into your hotel.
Today we board the narrow gauge Blue Mountain Railway toy train destined for Coonor. Operating since 1899, the Blue Mountain Railway with its blue and cream steam livery has chugged from Mettupalayam to Otty via Coonoor, negotiating 16 tunnels, 31 major bridges and climbing to 2193 metres. The charming journey offers sweeping mountain views and breathtaking scenery. Ooty is the "Queen of hill stations" and you will see why this afternoon, on a guided tour of the key sites.
This morning we head off to Coimbatore Station and catch the Ernakulam Express, 1310/1655, AC Chair Car train to Kochi. Arriving into Kochi, meet our driver who will assist you to your hotel.
Drive from Kochi to Munnar. A hill station at a height of 1525 mtrs, Munnar offers a breathtaking view of the hills swathed in an impossibly green carpet of tea bushes. Munnar - the right royal resort lazily nestled in the verdant slopes of tea country, is a quaint little town that exudes a rare old world charm and strangely reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendor. Today we visit a tea plantation and factory. See how tea is grown, hand-picked and processed and taste some of the best tea there is.
This morning board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Alleppey. Crewed by a poler to push the rice boat through the water, a distance of some 20 kms will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colourful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.
Disembarking at Allepey today we drive to the small sleepy town of Mararikulam for your relaxing beach stay.
Sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter.
