Day 1: Delhi

Namaste! Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive Delhi, included transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Delhi

Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.

Day 3: Delhi - Jaipur

This morning we drive to Jaipur, affectionately known as the Pink City as Maharaja Ram Singh had all of the Old City painted a welcoming pink in 1876 to herald a visit by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), it is also the bustling capital of the state of Rajasthan. Rest of the day at leisure. (Christmas Eve dinner is applicable - not yet set by hotels - so will be extra).

Day 4: Jaipur

This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style atop an elephant! Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of the city. Rest of the evening is free and at your leisure.

Day 5: Jaipur - Bharatpur

Today we drive to the small rural village of Perharsar, walking the dusty village lanes we gain an insight into local life and traditions. After hotel check in at Bharatpur and time to freshen up we visit a bird sanctuary.

Day 6: Bharatpur - Agra

En route to Agra, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, former imperial capital of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. In Agra, we enjoy a horsecart ride to the legendary Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays). Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz, who tragically died in childbirth in 1631, the Taj Mahal in Agra is described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love and remains one of India’s most enduring symbols. Later, we visit the impressive Agra Fort. (Taj closed on Fridays).

Day 7: Agra - Orchha

This morning, we travel by express train (08/10/1020 - air conditioned chair) to Jhansi and drive onward to Orchha. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, Orchha is set amongst a wonderful complex of well-preserved 16th century temples and palaces. Afternoon visit to Orchha city.

Day 8: Orchha - Varanasi

Today we fly east to Varanasi. Perhaps the holiest city in India; Varanasi, also known as Benares or the city of Shiva, is also one of the oldest cities on earth. Sitting on the banks of the holy River Ganges, it has been a centre of learning and civilisation for more than 2000 years and is a place of Hindu pilgrimage.

Day 9: Varanasi

This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of the city. At sunset consider re-visiting the ghats for the evening pilgramage, remarkably different from the dawn ritual.

Day 10: Varanasi - Goa

Today you will be transferred for your flight to Goa, via Mumbai (1140/1315, next flight 1715/1945). Upon arrival into Goa this evening you will be transferred to your hotel. (New years Eve Dinner is applicable - not yet set by hotel - will be extra).

Day 11: Goa

Sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and relax.

Day 12: Goa

Day 13: Goa - Bangalore

Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bangalore (1450 - 1545). Upon arrival we will transfer you to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 14: Bangalore

Vehicle available for you today within the city limits - for you to explore as you wish!

Day 15: Bangalore - Mysore

Today we drive to Mysore the land of magnificent palaces and beautiful gardens. Mysore has still an old world charm which have not given way to modern amenities. Arrive Mysore and hotel check in - rest of the day at leisure.

Day 16: Mysore

Afternoon visit the Chamundi Hill and Nandi Bull.

Day 17: Mysore - Ooty

Today we drive to Ooty. Ooty also known as Udhagamandalam is the "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. Used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. Arrive Ooty and transfer you to your hotel. At leisure.

Day 18: Ooty

Enjoy a toy train ride to Connoor. We will collect you and return to Ooty Here you enjoy a half day city sightseeing.

Day 19: Ooty - Kochi

Today we travel to Kochi, and the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 20: Kochi

This commercial city, also called “The Queen of the Arabian Sea” is famous for its exquisite designer Gold Jewellery. The touring today includes the visit to Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese for a local King in 1555 A.D. The famous Jew Street, a cul-de-sac leading to the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568. After a rest in the afternoon we will take you to see the Chinese Fishing Nets in the evening.

Day 21: Kochi - Alleppey

This morning we journey by road where you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Allapuzha (Alleppey). The boat will cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where copra and cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food. Relax, read and catch some sun as the boat plies it’s route.

Day 22: Alleppey - Periyar NP

Disembark from the houseboat and drive to Periyar. A short drive south to Periyar, South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds and even the odd tiger! There is plenty to do in and around Periyar, so we leave the choice to you.

Day 23: Periyar NP

Morning nature walk. Free day before an evening visit of the spice plantation.

Day 24: Periyar NP - Madurai

Today we make our way to Madurai. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 25: Madurai

Madurai is a bustling city jam-packed with rickshawallas, pilgrims and traders and resembling a seemingly continuous bazaar. Madurai is yours to enjoy. This morning we enjoy a sightseeing tour to visit the Meenakshi Temple built in 1560. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the city further.

Day 26: Madurai - Chennai

Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Chennai (1330 - 1455), upon arrival into Chennai we will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 27: Chennai - Pondicherry

Today, we visit Kanchipuram, one of sacred cities in India plus also the seaside town of Mahabalipuram, famous for its shore temple. The city is also famous for handwoven silk. In Mahabalipuram, the huge rock-cut sculptures and mandapams (pillared pavilions) date from the 5th to 8th centuries. We then continue to Pondicherry.

Day 28: Pondicherry - Chennai

This morning we have included sightseeing of Pondicherry before transferring back to Chennai for a free afternoon.

Half day city sightseeing. This afternoon is free.

Today we bid you farewell and transfer you to the airport for your onward departing flight.
