Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Nagpur (AI 469, departing at 05:50 and arriving at 08:40) and onward transfer to Pench National Park (3 hour drive) . Spread over 275km the park hosts a population of tiger. The terrain is undulating, with most of the area covered by small hills and well-stocked teak mixed forest. We have an afternoon game drives in a shared jeep.
Tigers, though for the greater part elusive, tend to inhabit the prey-rich belt by the Pench River, which meanders through the undulating terrain. Leopards, sambar, nilgai, chital also operate in the peripheral areas. Jungle cats, Indian and palm civets can also be spotted. We have morning and afternoon Game drives in shared jeeps or Canters.
This morning enjoy the last of your game drives at Pench. Afternoon transfer to Kanha National Park (6 hour drive) and check in. Our accomodation is ‘lodge style’ (individual bungalows with en-suite, hot and cold running water, basic facilities and electricity) in an open forest setting.
Located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha National Park is widely considered the greatest of India’s wildlife reserves, encompassing some 940-sq km of deciduous forest, savannah grassland, hills and an extensive network of rivers and streams. The park has been part of the Indira Gandhi’s Project Tiger, since the 1950’s, and it is home to an estimated 200 tigers.
Also present in the natural habitat is a variety of wildlife including leopard, chital, sambar, swamp deer, Indian bison, striped hyena, panther, antelope, Barasingha or swamp deer (plucked from near extinction in the 1960s) and of course, tiger. Safaris are undertaken in shared jeep/canters, with closer views of tiger sightings on elephant back.

We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Kochi (S2 3334, departing at 16:20 and arriving at 19:35. On arrival in Kochi we will transfer you to the hotel.

The Indian Navy, the Port and the Airport share the largely man-made Willingdon Island. We will take you on a morning tour of Fort Kochi and then drive to Mararikulam and check you into the hotel.
