Departing Delhi, we journey 5hrs by car to Agra, once India’s Mughal capital. Arriving, we visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls. During its history it has been a palace, a fort and a prison! Finish the tour with a visit to Sikandra – the red sand stone tomb of the Mughal emperor Akbar and Itimad-ud-daulah. It is also known as Baby Taj, for its striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal. This evening at leisure.
This morning we rise early for a guided tour of the magnificent Taj Mahal. Then driving en route to Jaipur, we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to lack of water. We enjoy lunch at Chandra Mahel Haveli in Peharsar. Then drive to Jaipur - Arrival check in and the evening is at your leisure.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
This morning at 9am we will drive to Shahpura Bagh a lovely small town situated between Jaipur and Udaipur which is around a four hour drive away. Here on arrival you will get to experience the hospitality of the Shahpura Royal Family after check in, you can go for a walk in the village or simply relax at the hotels infinity pool.
Enjoy a morning of leisure before we drive our final leg around four hours to Udaipur. On arrival we assist with your check into the luxurious Taj Lake Palace hotel. Enjoy the evening to take in this spectacular historic hotel.
This morning enjoy touring the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. We then take you to visit Jagdish Temple and Sahelion ki bari a couple of hours to relax this evening before we drive half hour to the Monsoon Palace to witness sunset and experience the magic atmosphere at twilight.
Morning it's off to the airport for your flight to Kochi via Mumbai. Arrival at 15:30 we will transfer you to your hotel. This evening your guide will take you at sunset for a walk along the waterfront to see the iconic chinese fishing nets.
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. A walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. Afternoon transfer to your hotel in Munnar.
Day trip to Kolukkamalai --- Kolukkumalai is at an elevation of 8,000 ft above sea level and is one of the highest tea plantations in the region. There is also a jungle nearby, which is home to various animals such as elephant, gaur, sambar and sloth bear. The place can be reached only by jeeps.
When ready enjoy the short drive south to Periyar, South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds and even the odd tiger!
Today take an included early morning boat ride around Lake Periyar. Later visit to a Spice Plantation in the afternoon or Jungle trek the option is yours.
This morning board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Alleppey. Crewed by a poler to push the rice boat through the water, a distance of some 20 kms will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colourful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.
Disembarking at Allepey today we drive to Kovalam for your relaxing beach stay.
