This morning, our Welcome Meeting takes place. We’ll then enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Old Delhi, taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque. This afternoon why not further enhance your exploration of this busting city with an afternoon guided journey through the New Delhi area the highlights will include India gate a drive past parliamentary buildings and President's house, a guided visit to Humayun's tomb then concluding with sightseeing to UNESCO World Heritage Site Qutub minar. Today, we drive 5 hours to Jaipur. Affectionately known as the Pink City as Maharaja Ram Singh had all of the Old City painted a welcoming pink in 1876 to herald a visit by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), it is also the bustling capital of the state of Rajasthan. Arriving here simply check into your to heritage hotel and relax for the evening.
This morning you will have to look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. This afternoon perhaps opt for a journey of discovery through the historic pink city of Jaipur we start with a photo stop in front of Jal mahal (lake palace) thereafter visit the ancient astronomical observatory of Jantar mantar and thereafter a guided tour of the city palace complex and it’s fascinating nooks and crannies. As the drive to Jodhpur is rather long we today will drive to a fantastically scenic stop point called Chhatra Sagar here you stay in lovely safari style permanent tents overlooking the lake. The hotel can organise authentic farm and village visits as well as birdwatching tours as you may like. (Tonight's hotel is Chhatra Sagar staying in a Luxury Tent) Not a hotel in Jodhpur.
After a relaxing morning, we continue with a shorter drive of 2 hours to Jodhpur. Arriving here we will check into your hotel and the remainder of the day is for relaxing and enjoying your surroundings.
Today we’ll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower. Remainder of the day at your leisure.
Leaving Jodhpur, we drive to Ranakpur, a small town tucked away in a remote valley and famed for its beautiful 14th century Jain temples. We’ll enjoy some exploration here on your own with the driver before continuing onto Udaipur and check into your lake side hotel for the evening.
This morning enjoy touring of the imposing City Palace. The minute you can check in, we will take you to the Lake Palace hotel so that you can enjoy the full afternoon and evening experience at this legendary hotel.
Enjoy a morning of leisure before we collect you to take you to your Udaipur hotel. Later this afternoon, perhaps opt for a journey of discovery to the Monsoon palace. Flying to Kochi from Udaipur is not a simple connection so early morning you will fly to Mumbai or Delhi and from there catch the connecting flight to Kochi. Arriving here we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
Enjoy a walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. This afternoon enjoy a boat ride around the port to see famous Chinese fishing nets. After. we will take you to see a Kathakali dance performance a tradtional dance form, that has been performed since a bygone era in Kerala.
This morning we drive to Alleppey where you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Allapuzha (Alleppey). The boat will cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where copra and cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food. Relax, read and catch some sun as the boat plies it’s route.
After breakfast we head east to to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. Afternoon we travel to Club Mahindra for an adventurous jeep safari in the Kolukumalai Hills to visit a tea factory and learn more about the industry.
This morning we visit Raja Malai - the highest peak of Munnar, where you might be lucky to see Neel Thar or mountain goats. Thereafter enjoy an excursion to Mattupetty Dam all the area is surrounded by lovely scenery, trees and waterfalls galore. We then drive to your hotel in Periyar National Park arriving in the evening.
This morning enjoy an excursion to the see famous spice plantations of Kerala you will get to see how they grow and how they are processed. This afternoon enjoy an included boat ride or nature walk to see wildlife in the region.
After a morning nature walk we will check out and you can leave your bags with the reception or opt to pay locally and hold the room until 4 pm or so when we will transfer you back to Kochi airport in time for the Late PM / Early AM flight back to the UK.
