Today is the start of your Indian adventure! We will meet you at your hotel in Delhi and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Kochi. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. We will enjoy a half day city tour before a traditional Kathkali dance in the evening.
We head to Allepey today. Upon arrival we board a furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the lush backwaters. Our private rice-boat takes us sedately along the enchanting palm-fringed backwaters, covering a distance of some 20 kms, during which time the boat glides past local villages and interesting scenes of everyday rural life. Watch a beautiful sunset over the backwaters and enjoy tasty meals (starting with a late lunch) prepared by the onboard chef using fresh local produce.
This morning after breakfast on board we travel to Periyar. One of the largest and most visited wildlife sanctuaries in India, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in the state of Kerala occupies an area of 777 sq km of lush green tropical forest of the Cardamom Hills region of the Western Ghats.
This morning we head for beautiful Periyar Lake - here we will take a boat ride and enjoy the natural beauty and abundance of wildlife. Later in the day as the sun is dawning we go to the spice plantation and tour the local production establishments.
Today we head to Munnar which is set amidst dramatic mountain scenery, the hill town of Munnar in the state of Kerala lies at an altitude of 1524 metres, essentially the commercial centre of some of the world’s highest tea-growing estates. It’s easy to see why Scottish planters who first developed this hidden valley in the 1900s felt so at home here. Although not quite like Inverness or the Highlands, the weather was a lot cooler.
After some last minute souvenir buying and some last minute picture taking of the magnificent south we head to the airport for your onward flight to Delhi in time to catch your connecting flight home.
