Day 1: Kochi

Welcome to India's spice city, and the start of your remarkable journey through epic landscapes, bustling cities and historic wonders. Arriving into Kochi airport our friendly local team await to whisk you off to your hotel for some much needed rest after the journey. (HOTEL PRIDE IN KOCHI)

Day 2: Kochi

Formerly a princely state, Kochi is also fondly referred to as “The Queen of the Arabian Sea”. This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. A walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. (HOTEL PRIDE IN KOCHI)

Day 3: Kochi - Munnar

After breakfast, a drive east to to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills.

Day 4: Munnar - Periyar NP

Our voyage of discovery continues south to Periyar, South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds and even the odd tiger! Kumli, close to the sanctuary and where you’ll stay, is a pretty little town dotted with small spice and handicraft shops. After check into your hotel you have time to relax or head out for a walk in your tranquil natural surroundings.

Day 5: Periyar NP

There is plenty to do in and around Periyar, so we leave the choice to you for the entire day. We have pre booked for you a boat ride on Lake Periyar to spot herds of wild elephants in and around that you can choose to walk in the jungle, visit tea estates and more all can be arranged with our team.

Day 6: Periyar NP - Kumarakom

Heading back to the coast we journey to Kumarakom. Perched sleepily on the eastern banks of the mighty Lake Vembanad in the heartland of Kerala’s famed backwaters, Kumarakom has changed little since the Middle Ages but for it’s string of exotic resorts, making it the perfect point to explore the backwaters. Although right in the thick of a tangle of lush tropical waterways, Kumarakom is technically an island on Lake Vembanad., making it an ideal place to chill-out for a few days.

Day 7: Kumarakom

Enjoy the day at your leisure. There is also a wonderful bird sanctuary, winter home to many migratory birds which is worth a visit if you fancied or perhaps another of our Enhance Your Holiday options?

Day 8: Kumarakom - Alleppey

This morning board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Alleppey. Crewed by a poler to push the rice boat through the water, a distance of some 20 kms will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colourful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.

Day 9: Alleppey - Goa

Disembarking at Alleppey, you’ll be driven the short distance back to Kochi. Here, we assist with embarking your flight destined for Goa. In Goa, our local team are waiting to take you onto your hotel.

Days 10-13: Goa

Sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter. It is worth pointing out that we feel Goa is very much overlooked from tourists and there are some wonderful places to explore so why not Enhance one of your days here?

Day 14: Goa

Sadly your exploration of South India has come to an end, we will be sure to transfer you to Goa Airport in time for your flight home.
