Day 1: Kolkata

Welcome to the start of your voyage of discovery through 'Incredible India'! You will be met at Kolkata International Airport by our friendly local team and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure to explore or relax as you like.

Day 2: Kolkata

Enjoy a city sights tour including first Mother Teresa's orphanage, after a visit to the imposing Victoria Memorial. Opened by the Prince of Wales in 1921, this vision in marble is often called the “Taj” of the British Raj. We also visit the New Market – a bazaar on Chowringhee Road, the stately Indian Museum founded in 1814 and the oldest and largest in India, St Paul’s Cathedral and the extraordinary Marble Palace which houses paintings by Rubens, Titian and Reynolds.

Day 3: Kolkata - Bodhgaya

This morning we transfer you to train station for your train to Gaya (DEPARTS MONDAYS ONLY -- Hwh Jsm Exp DEP:-08:20 - ARR:-14:50) Sit back enjoy the journey chatting to the locals and watching the scenery out the window and trying weird and wonderful snacks that get sold by the vendors at every station Tea in clay cups is a must do! Arrive Gaya, our rep will transfer you to your hotel. Highly recommend at your leisure this evening that you attend the the candle-lit evening ceremony at the Mahabodhi Temple it is well worth it.

Day 4: Bodhgaya

Our day of exploring Gaya starts with a visit to the Mahabodhi temple “This holy place was built by Emperor Ashoka and has been documented by the UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Other highlights today include the Animesh Lochana Temple, the massive Buddhist Dharma Chakra, Lotus tank, the Archaeological Museum, Thai Temple, Indosan Nipponji Temple, Gelugpa Tibetan Monastery and the Giant statue of Buddha.

Day 5: Bodhgaya - Varanasi

Today we transfer you by road to Varanasi. Along the way your driver will stop in Aurangabad and drive you to various sites for you to visit at leisure. Highlights include Deo which is famous for its ancient Sun Temple, Siris here you can see a mosque that was built when Aurangzeb was the Mughal emperor. Onward to Umga that houses an ancient temple devoted to Lord Vishnu. We conclude with visiting the ancient forts of Chandangadh, Pawai, and Mali. Arriving in Varanasi relax at your hotel, this evening your guide will take you to the Ganges river to see the ceremonial worship that takes place.

Day 6: Varanasi

This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a guided exploration of Sarnath, this is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the five holy men; preaching the middle way to final 'NIRVANA’.

Day 7: Varanasi - Sravasti

This morning we depart Varanasi and drive to Sravasti. En-route we will make a stop in the town of Ayodhya & Faizabad here your driver will drop you off to see a few different sites such as Fort Calcutta, Golap Bari (Rose Garden) in Faizabad and in particular the Hanuman Ghati in Ayodhya - You will also have time to eat lunch before we continue to Sravasti.

Day 8: Sravasti - Lumbini

Enjoy the morning to see the highlights of Sravasti such as Sobhanath Temple, Saheth and Maheth. After, we drive to Lumbini that involves crossing the border into Nepal - Arriving in the evening.

Day 9: Lumbini - Kushinagar

This morning we visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha in 623BC. The Lumbini Garden is famous for the Ashokan Pillar, which offers epigraphic evidence of Lord Buddha’s birth. After, we cross back into India and drive to Kushinagar.

Day 10: Kushinagar - Patna

This morning enjoy visiting the Wattthai Temple, Nirvana Stupa, Mathakuar Shrine, Mahaparinirvana Temple, Ramabhar Stupa and the Japanese Temple. We then drive to Patna stopping along the way to have time for a late lunch in Vaishali and then visiting it's historic sites such as the Ashokan Pillar, Bawan Pokhar Temple and the two Buddha Stupas. Arriving into Patna in the late evening.

Day 11: Patna - Rajgir

Today we drive onward to Rajgir, enroute we visit Nalanda visiting highlights there such as Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall, the Nalanda Archaeological Museum, The Great Stupa and Bihar Sharif. Arriving into Rajgir in the earlier evening.

Day 12: Rajgir - Kolkata

Morning have a walk around town. This town is an ancient place full of artifacts, ruins, temples dating back to 1000 BC have been found here. After, we transfer you to Bodhgaya, making a stop en-route to visit Domasaree. After time for dinner you will be driven to station for the sleeper train to Varanasi. (ALL DAYS - Kalka Mail Train - DEP:-23:28 - ARR:-07:55 - 1st Class Sleeper)

Day 13: Kolkata

Arriving into Kolkata this morning our local driver will transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy the day at your leisure to explore.

Your journey through 'Incredible India' comes to an end today, we will be sure to transfer you to Kolkata airport in time for your flight home.
