Our guided sightseeing tour of Delhi today covers the colourful chaos of Old Delhi. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Delhi was important centre of the Mughal dynasty and the British made it the capital city in 1911. We take in Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, the bustling bazaar, as well as the Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana – the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru. Free afternoon. It's time to leave Delhi. We drive to Rishikesh (approximately 5-6 hours) and check into our hotel.
Known as the Yoga Capial of the World, Rishikesh is set on the banks of the Ganges and surrounded by hills, as such by its nature it is a perfect place to relax. Set amongst the banks of the Ganges, we will visit several of its Temples. This evening we will enjoy an Arti ceremony at Haridwar, where hundreds gather every night to participate.
Today its adrenalin time - we will take you off for a half day rafting trip along the Ganges!
We set off for Corbett today, a 5-6 hour journey. On arival we will check you into the lodge.
Corbett NP India's first established, the star attraction of the park is the tiger. Besides the tiger, you can find other cats such as the leopard, the jungle cat and the fishing cat. The park is also the home for scores of other animals as well, from the deer to the Indian Grey Mongoose. With over 580 species, rare migratory birds that regularly visit the park. You will enjoy morning and evening game drives to see the wild life.
Today we will head for Fort Unchagaon. Fort Unchagaon stands in village Unchagaoni .The present Raja Surendra Pal Singh inherited this early 19th century fort. The young heir took personal interest in the preservation of this ancestral residence. Being the private domicile of a prince, the décor is authentically aristocratic. Overnight Fort Unchagaon.
Today we leave Unchagaon and head back to Delhi. On arrival we will check you into the hotel.
An early morning start we will drive to Agra - home of India's famous attraction - the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival we will have a sightseeing tour to the Agra Fort, before watching the sun set on the Taj Mahal itself.
We head to Ranthambhore today, a 4-5 hour drive. On arrival we will check you into the lodge.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the national park. Ranthambore National Park is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur.
After our final morning game drive we will depart from this wonderful NP park hopefully having seen some of the elusive tigers. After you will arrive on to Jaipur 'The Pink City' enjoy some free time this evening to relax in this bustling Rajastani city.
This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style riding on an elephant! Free afternoon. Today we will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Srinagar (via Delhi). Srinagar is the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, situated in the northwestern region of India. Jammu and Kashmir is bordered in the north by China, to the east by the autonomous region of Tibet, to the south by the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, and to the west by the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi and on North Western side by Afghanistan. Upon arrival you'll be met and transferred to your houseboat on Nageen Lake, part of Dal Lake, which will be your home for the next 3 nights.
This morning we visit some of the stunning Mughal Gardens that Srinagar is famous for. We visit the terraced Nishat Bagh or Nishat Garden on the eastern side of the lake, Nishat Bagh translates in Hindustani as "Garden of Joy" which is entirely fitting. Later we visit Shalimar Garden, equally as stunning and located on the northeast side of the lake. The gardens are linked to Dal Lake via channel. After our tour the rest of the afternoon is free.
his morning we board one of the colourful shikara to visit the floating gardens, known as "Rad" in Kashmiri, where mounds of earth make for a fascinating display as they protrude from the water topped with all sorts of growing local produce. Tomatoes, cucumbers and melons have been found to grow the best with the constant source of irrigation. Later we visit the Old City of Srinigar, or as it's also known downtown Srinigar, with its winding streets and alleys lined with shops selling and making the finest Kashmari goods. Evening at leisure.
We return to Srinagar and transfer to the airport for our flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi you will be met and transferred to the international departure terminal for your onward flight. Please ensure your departure flight is booked for the evening
