Departing London Heathrow at 2050 on Jet Airways on 04 February, flying direct to Delhi arriving at 10.40 on 05 February. Namaste! Welcome to India and New Delhi, the capital city of India. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel with the rest of the day yours to relax or explore the secrets of the city's Mughal past in the labyrinthine streets of Old Delhi and the wide open spaces of imperial New Delhi.
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
An early morning start we will drive to Agra - home of India's famous attraction - the Taj Mahal. We start with a guided tour then you will have ample time to explore this once powerful Moghul emperor’s exquisite monument to love.
Today we head out to visit Agra fort, built under the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565. It contains numerous palaces and a white marble mosque. We also visit Itmad-ud-Daula's Tomb, also known as the Baby Taj, where you have a magnificent of the Taj Mahal.
(Early morning to visit Taj Mahal independently). After breakfast, we drive to Bharatpur, with a stop enroute at Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. Arriving at Bharatpur station, you board the Kota Jan Shatabdi train to Sawai Madhopur where you will be met and transferred to your accommodation near Ranthambore National Park.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in a shared jeep or canter in Ranthambore National Park, one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur.
Enjoy a final morning game drive before we departure for Jaipur, famous for the unusual rose-colored sandstone architecture that gives the city its nickname, the Pink City.
This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style riding on an elephant! In the afternoon you will enjoy a tour of the city. Highlights include the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
After a leisurely breakfast and hotel check out, we travel to Shahpura and check into the Shahpura Bagh hotel. Enjoy an the afternoon at your leisure in the historic surroundings.
Today we continue our journey onto Udaipur where the afternoon is free to relax.
This morning enjoy touring the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. The City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. We then take you to visit Jagdish Temple and Sahelion ki bari. You will have free time to explore on your own or perhaps shop for colourful Rajasthani arts and crafts. The evening enjoy a shared boat ride on Lake Pichola.
After breakfast and hotel check out, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight via Mumbai to Goa. Our local representative to greet you at Goa airport and assist with your transfer to your hotel.
Today you bid farewell to Incredible India. We will transfer you to the airport for your flights home. Departing from Goa at 1855, flying via Mumbai to London Heathrow, arriving at 0700 on 22th February.
