Welcome to the start of your voyage of discovery through 'Incredible India'! You will be met at Delhi International Airport by our friendly local team and transferred to your hotel. This morning, our Welcome Meeting takes place. We’ll then enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Old Delhi, taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque. After breakfast we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Varanasi. Arriving here we will transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy a free day to explore the city. This evening we will transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Varanasi. The Poorva Express leaves at 18:30 so have dinner before boarding. Your train arrives into Udaipur in the morning at 4:00 am to the start of a new day and the gathering hustle and bustle. Our rep will be waiting for us , but make sure you take a moment to try some chai, hot tea from one of the vendors, before transferring to your hotel for breakfast. After enjoy a morning tour of the magnificent Taj Mahal. Returning we check in and have time to freshen up, before our viisit to the Agra Fort. This evening you can re visit the Taj for sunset in your own time if you like.
En route to Jaipur, we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to lack of water. As we get closer to Jaipur we stop for a tasty lunch and visit Chandra Haveli, a charming haveli (mansion house) with small courtyard, lawned gardens and rustic appeal carefully being restored to the splendour of better farming years (if open, currently under renovation till Dec 2012). Once in Jaipur, check into your hotel. This evening we will take for evening ceremony at famous Birla Mandir Hindu Temple.
This morning you will have to look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we'll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. After breakfast we drive to Shahpura Bagh. Arriving in this small village check into your hotel which is the small palace of the Shahpura Royal Family. Enjoy free time to explore this lovely place for an insight into rural India.
Today we will make our way to Udaipur. Along the way, making two interesting stops to visit Ranakpur and its famous Jain temples then Kumbalgarh Fort, one of the most important forts in Rajasthan.
This morning enjoy a half tour of the imposing City Palace and this afternoon enjoy time to explore and perhaps shop for colourful Rajasthani souvenirs and Indian spices. Off to the airport for your flight to South India's state of Kerala and the city of Kochi (Via Delhi or Mumbai). Arriving in Kochi in the evening we will transfer you to your hotel.
Formerly a princely state, Kochi is also fondly referred to as “The Queen of the Arabian Sea”. This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. A walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. This evening we will take you to watch famous Keralan dancers perform. We will arrive early so you don’t miss the artists applying their awesome make-up.
This morning, you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Allapuzha (Alleppey). The boat will cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where copra and cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food. Relax, read and catch some sun as the boat plies it’s route.
Disembarking at Allapuzha, enjoy a short drive to Ayanath House - Check into your rooms and meet the family whom run and operate this farm.
For today and tommorow enjoy your cultural insight into Keralan Life. You can do activities such as learn to cook classic Kerala dishes, The farm still adopts primitive methods of farming you can experience various farming methods first hand, visit to the prawn farms during the season, fishing with the local choondas and learning to cast the traditional net, For the adventurous type, try your hand at climbing the coconut tree during the harvest (every 50 days) or learn the skills of toddy tapping.
Today we say farewell to Kerala with a transfer to the airport in Kochi for your flight to Goa. Your flight leaves at 08:15 Connect Via Mumbai and arrives at 13:50 into Goa. We will transfer you to your hotel to celebrate New Years Eve!
