This morning after breakfast we take the cruise to visit the Elephanta caves. The rock-cut temples on peaceful Elephanta Island are thought to have been carved between 450 and 750 AD. The main cave contains large sculpted panels, including an astonishing 18-foot depiction of Shiva. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour one of the most highly populated cities in the world, accommodating approximately 18 million people! Highlights include the Prince of Wales Museum, Gateway of India and Marine drive.
This morning we transfer you back to the airport for your domestic flights to Udaipur (AI 472, 1400/1525). Upon arrival, our local team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of today is free at your leisure.
This morning enjoy a guided orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. In the late afternoon, we visit the Monsoon Palace for sunset.

This morning enjoy a guided exploration of New Delhi which has been the capital city of the Republic of India since Independence and is home to many historic monuments as well as impressive Raj-era architecture. Largely planned and built by the British, the central administrative area of the city was laid out as a testament to Britain's imperial pretensions. Sights include Qutab Minar, Humayun tomb and India Gate. The afternoon is free at your leisure.
Today we visit Old Delhi; with its predominantly Muslim population and Mughal architecture, it is comprised mostly of a labyrinth of tiny lanes crowded with rickshaws, and lined with run-down 17th-century havelis. Visits include the Red Fort and Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure.
It is an early start this morning for the train to Agra (Bhopal Shtabadi, 0600/0806, Executive Chair Car). Arriving at the station in Agra, you will be met by our local guide and head off to visit the stunning Agra Fort. We continue onto India most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal. Here you learn the story of the Taj before having free time to explore and watch the sunset.
Today we leave Agra for our journey to Jaipur. En route, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. To break up the journey, we have included a late lunch stop between Bharatpur and Jaipur.
This morning we visit the magnificent Amber Fort - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. The afternoon is free at your leisure.
Today to fly onto the Holi city of Varanasi (9W 2250, 0820/0920 via Delhi, 9W 2423, 1045/1205). Upon arrival your have some free time to relax before our first visit to the Ganges River to experience the evening Aarti Ceremony.
This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of the city including Sarnath, where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the five holy men.
This morning you fly via Mumbai to Kochi (AI 696, 1120/1325, AI 681, 1700/1905). From Kochi Airport, we will transfer you to your hotel.
This morning its a short drive from Kochi to Alleppey to the area where you board your house boat. It is very peaceful - simply sit back, relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Keralan Backwaters.
