Departing Delhi, we journey by road to Agra, once India’s Mughal capital. Arriving, we visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls. During its history it has been a palace, a fort and a prison! This evening enjoy a guided tour then free time to see the romantic sun set at the Taj Mahal.
Today we rise early to see the Taj Mahal in its ethereal morning light - quite a contrast to sunset on our previous visit.We also visit Baby Taj and drive to the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. The deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri was built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after fifteen years due to scarcity of water.
After breakfast we have a 6 hour scenic drive to Ranthambhore National Park. We check-in, freshen up and then venture out for a game drive in a shared canter.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the national park. Ranthambore National Park is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur
Enjoy a morning game drive in the national park. We will then drive you to Jaipur and check you into the hotel.
This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style riding on an elephant! Free afternoon. Afterwards you have our Jaipur Up Close tour, our tour of the city which includes the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
This morning you will transfer you to the famous romantic city of Udaipur. Udaipur, an oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian-like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples. This evening you will enjoy an evening tranquil boat ride on Lake Pichola.
This morning will consist of an orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. Afterwards you have our Monsoon Palace excursion.
Today we transfer you to the airport for your short flight to Delhi (SG 2436, 1235/1405) and then transfer you to the train station for the train to Shimla (HWH DLI KALKA MAIL, 2125/0430*, 1st Class AC).
We will meet you from the train station and transfer you to the hotel. after a chance to freshen up, enjoy a city tour of Shimla. We visit a heritage zone 'The Mall.' We visit the Yellow Church, a premises for art and culture lovers. It is considered and important heritage property as the decision to partition India and Pakistan was taken here. We visit the town's highest peak and a vantage point for Shimla's famous view is the Jhaku Temple/Hill.
Today we will leave you to your own devices to explore and venture into the narrow streets, which fall steeply away from the ridge giving way to colourful bazaars and fine views of the surrounding valley and snow-capped peaks.
Transfer to Shimla railway station for the Toy train to Kalka. Train number 2560-Himalayan Queen departs at 1030 and arrives at 1605. Arrive Kalka and board the train to Delhi on your own. No assistance provided at Kalka station. Train number 2012-Kalka Shatabdi departs at 1745 and arrives at 2155. Air conditioned executive chair car. Arrive Delhi and you will be met and transferred to your hotel in New Delhi for your conference (booked separately).
