Day 1: Chennai
Welcome to India! Upon arrival we will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel for the evening. Overnight GRT Grand Chennai (standard room).
Day 2: Chennai - Pondicherry
En route to Pondicherry visit Kanchipuram, one of sacred cities in India and the seaside town of Mahabalipuram, famous for its shore temple. The city is also famous for handwoven silk. In Mahabalipuram, the huge rock-cut sculptures and mandapams (pillared pavilions) date from the 5th to 8th centuries.
Day 3: Pondicherry
Merry Christmas! Start the day with a sightseeing tour of Pondicherry which includes Auroville Ashram. This afternoon is free to enjoy.
Day 6: Tanjore - Madurai
Spend the morning on a sightseeing tour of Tanjore including Brihadeeshwara Temple and Tanjore Art Gallery before we travel approx. 6 hours to Madurai for the evening.
Day 7: Madurai
This morning enjoy a half day city tour of Mandurai including Thirumalai Nayak Palace,Mariamman Theppakulam, Meenakshi Temple, Local Bazaar and Taylor market.
Day 9: Madurai - Munnar
Today we journey on approx. 4 hours to Munnar. The remainder of the day is free for you to look forward to the New Year!
Day 10: Munnar
Happy New Years! (Today you will need to change rooms to the Garden room.) This morning you can visit a tea plantation and museum (closed Monday). See how Assam tea is grown, hand-picked and processed and taste some of the best Assam tea there is. Later enjoy a trip to Eravikulam National Park with the remainder of the day free.
Day 11: Munnar - Kumarakom
Today we travel approx. 4.5 hours to Kumarakom with the remainder of the day free.
Day 14: Kumarakom - Alleppey
Today you will be transferred to Kumarakom boat jetty to embark houseboat to enjoy the backwaters of Kerala.
Day 15: Alleppey - Kochi
Disembarking the houseboat we travel onto Kochi with the remainder of the day free.
Day 16: Kochi
Today enjoy a half day tour of Old Kochi including Synagogue, Dutch Palace & St Francis Church and the Dutch Palace. Today you will need to change hotels and check-in to the Bruton Boatyard. This evening enjoy a kathakali dance performance!
Day 19: Kochi
Sadly your last day with us with your departure transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
