Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive Delhi, included transfer to hotel.
We have a full day sightseeing tour of Delhi, taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Qutub Minar, Humanyun's Tomb, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more. This evening we board our overnight train to Varanasi (2559 Shiv Ganga Express 1st class A/C sleeper, departing at 18:45.
Arrival 07:30. We are met at the train station and transferred to our hotel. Today we venture out and visit the Temples - Banaras Hindu University, New Vishwananth Temple and Durga Temple. This evening we enjoy a boat ride on the Holy Ganges to see the devotes at prayer along the banks.
This morning we enjoy an early morning boat ride followed by a walking tour of the old city.
Day at leisure to explore (hotel check out is at 12 noon). This evening we are met and transferred to the train station for our train to Agra. Train 4865 Marudhar Express 2nd class A/C sleeper departing at 17:45.
Arrival Agra at 05:55, we are met and transferred to our hotel (hotel check in after 12 midday). Agra - once India’s Mughal capital - here we enjoy a horsecart or rickshaw ride to the legendary Taj Mahal. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers. Continuing, we visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls.
After breakfast we drive to Tordi Garth (approx 260kms). On arrival, check into our hotel Remainder of today is at leisure. Overnight Tordigarh - Tordi Ghar hotel.
Leaving Tordigarh we drive onto Jaipur (approx 75kms). On arrival we check into our hotel. Remainder of today at leisure.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Driving on (approx 240kms) to Nimaj. After checkin, there is free time for you to explore the village on your own.
Travelling on, our next stop is Jodhpur (approx 100kms). After hotel check in, we venture out and visit Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thanda and the Clock Tower.
Leaving Jodhpur, we travel onto the Romantic city of Udaipur (approx 300kms - 6 hrs)- An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples.
This morning enjoy touring the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. The City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. We then take you to visit Jagdish Temple and Sahelion ki bari and more.
Departure transfer to the airport to board a morning flight to Mumbai departing at 08:00. Arrival into Mumbai at 09:55. to board our connecting flight to Kochi at 10:35. Arrival Kochi at 12:20. We are met on arrival and transferred to our hotel.The afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel or to head out and explore.
A full days city sightseeing today, including the Synagogue, Dutch Palace and St. Francis Church. This evening we enjoy evening kathakali dance performance.
Today we are transferred to periyar (aaprox 6 hrs). Remainder of today at leisure.
This morning we journey by road where you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Allapuzha (Alleppey). The boat will cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where copra and cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food. Relax, read and catch some sun as the boat plies it’s route.
Disembarking, we drive onto Varkala (approx 106kms - 3hrs). Remainder of today at leisure.
