The grand entrance into Delhi's famous Red Fort

Day 1: Delhi

Upon arrival into Delhi, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or independently explore this bustling capital.

Day 2: Delhi

This morning, we embark on a half day sightseeing tour of Delhi, taking in the impressive Red Fort (closed Monday's), Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation.

Day 3: Delhi

Further your exploration of this busting city with a half day guided journey through New Delhi. The highlights will include India gate, a drive past the parliamentary buildings and President's house and concludes with sightseeing to Humayun's tomb.

Day 4: Delhi

Day at leisure.

Day 5: Delhi - Agra

Departing Delhi, we journey to Agra (roughly 4 hours), once India’s Mughal capital.

Day 6: Agra

We visit the the legendary Taj Mahal (closed Friday's) and witness a magical sunrise. Built by Shah Jahan in the 16th century as an enduring memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers. Later, we visit the impressive Agra Fort, which boasts some of India's finest Mughal buildings behind it's fortified walls.

Day 7: Agra - Jaipur

En route to Jaipur, we visit ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. This magnificent fortified city was the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 until 1585, when it was abandoned dramatically due to a lack of water to support the peoples who resided in the city. Thanks to the very durable red sandstone, from which it was built, Fatehpur Sikri remains fantastically preserved. Drive time roughly 5 hours.

Day 8: Jaipur

This morning, we travel beyond Jaipur to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride (subject to elephant availability and government regulations) transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory and more.

Day 9: Jaipur - Jodhpur

An interesting drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. We travel via Pushkar which takes us roughly 6.5 hours. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo.

Day 10: Jodhpur

We’ll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty Mehrangarh fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower. We also visit Jasawant Thada and Ummed Bhawan Palace Museum.

Day 11: Jodhpur - Udaipur

Continuing south, we arrive at Udaipur (roughly 6 hours). An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian-like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples.

Day 12: Udaipur

Day at leisure.

Day 13: Udaipur - Delhi

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi via Varanasi, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 14: Delhi - Khajuraho

Today, you will fly via Varanasi to Khajuraho where you will be met and transferred to enjoy touring includes the western group of Khajuraho temples and Museum of Trible and Folk Art.

Day 15: Khajuraho - Varanasi

Transfer to the airport to your flight to Varanasi, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This evening visit the Ganges to witness the Aarti Ceremony on the Ghat, an amazingly spiritual experience remarkably different from the dawn ritual.

Day 16: Varanasi

This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of the city.

Day 17: Varanasi - Kathmandu

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Day 18: Kathmandu

Sightseeing of Kathmandu includes Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex and Swayambhunath, which are fabulous examples of Buddhist temple architecture and a great place to observe Buddhist life and culture. We’ll also explore Patan Durbar Square, home to more than 50 stunning temples and shrines.

Day 19: Kathmandu

We enjoy a visit to Buddhist Stupas of Bodhnath and drive to Bhaktapur, a typical Newari town. Despite its close proximity to Kathmandu, Bhaktapur seems worlds apart. This enchanting old town is peacefully traffic free and has retained its centuries old traditions, crafts and trades. Bhaktapur Durbar Square is home to beautifully carved Malla dynasty palaces and pagodas and the cobblestone streets, temples, shrines and squares are full of character.

Day 20: Kathmandu

Enjoy a day excursion to the Hill Station town of Nagarkot located a short distance from the city. We spend the afternoon exploring the area.

Day 21: Kathmandu

Departure transfer to the airport.
