Welcome to India! After your have cleared customs and passport control we will transfer your directly to the hotel to check-in and freshen up. Enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing and recovering from your flight.
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Forgoing a long drive, we fly east to Varanasi. Perhaps the holiest city in India; Varanasi, also known as Benares or the city of Shiva, is also one of the oldest cities on earth. Sitting on the banks of the holy River Ganges, it has been a centre of learning and civilisation for more than 2000 years and is a place of Hindu pilgrimage.
This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of the city and Sarnath. At sunset consider re-visiting the ghats for the evening pilgramage, remarkably different from the dawn ritual. Tonight you will board the over night train to Tundla tonight at 22:30
Arriving this morning at 07:03 am we will meet you at Tundla station and then transfer you on to Agra only a short drive away. After hotel check-in and time to freshen up we are off to the Taj Mahal here you will enjoy exploration time and also a guided explanation of this once powerful mogul emperor’s monument to love. Following this we visit Agra Fort which, during its time has been a military structure, a palace and a prison!
This morning we will take a drive out to the ghostly fortifed city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandonded only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area, continiuing on you will arrive in to Jaipur 'The Pink City' in the afternoon enjoy some free time to relax.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where you will enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon you tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
An interesting 6 Hr drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo.
Today We will enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower. Around 1 pm you will head the romantic city of Udaipur - the very essence of what it is to be in Rajasthan. Upon arrival at your hotel you will have free a evening to wander on the shore of Lake Pichola and take in the fresh air of this desert oasis.
This morning enjoy touring of the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. The City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. You will also have a bit of free time to explore the palace or perhaps shop for colourful Rajasthani arts and crafts before your evening tranquil boat ride no Lake Pichola.
This morning the tropical shores of Goa beckons. you will fly to first to Mumbai and after a short transit in the airport you fly down to Goa, Where for the remaining days you can truly relax.
Now it's time to sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter.
Farwell Incredible India! This afternoon we will take you to the airport for your flight to Mumbai, and then onward transfer to the international airport for your homeward flight.
