Varanasi is the holiest of Hindu pilgrimage destinations in India and you will witness this devotion tonight when your guide takes you to experience the ritual worship that takes place down by the river.
Abundant with temples and a labyrinth of streets, Varanasi is exciting, enticing and a city not to be missed. Early this morning we enjoy a boat ride on the River Ganges to view the sunrise and the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the ghats (riverside steps). Enjoy a tour of the city, with its numerous temples and wonderful historic feel. We conclude our day with exploring the Buddhist site of Sarnath, which is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the five holy men; preaching the middle way to final 'NIRVANA’.
This morning we return you to the airport for your 1055 flight back to Delhi. Arriving here after noon, our driver is on hand to take you for lunch and a drive around the markets if you like. Later, we assist with your embarkation of the express train to Amritsar. Your train arrives around 22:30 we will take you onto your hotel for a speedy check in and some rest.
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the historic Amritsar, including the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh. Amritsar’s main attraction - the beautiful Golden Temple, is made of white marble, bronze and gold leaf. To enter the temple, you must don a traditional headscarf, wade through a shallow pool (a purification ritual) and merge with the mass of bodies that circle the embankment around the holy structure. This afternoon travel approximately 28km to Wagah, which is the only border crossing between India and Pakistan. Visiting Wagah is an interesting experience especially at sunset when the ‘Retreat’ ceremony takes place with the BSF on the Indian Side of the Border.
This morning early we take you onto the station for your next train journey this time headed toward the mighty Himalayas. Arriving into Chandigarh, our mountain driver awaits to take you onto the hill station of Shimla.
Today we will leave you to your own devices to explore and venture into the narrow streets, which fall steeply away from the ridge giving way to colourful bazaars and fine views of the surrounding valley and snow-capped peaks.
This morning, to the commotion of plumes of steam you travel down the mountains to Kalka on the narrow gauge Himalayan Queen Toy Train. Arriving into Kalka you will need to grab your own bags and change platforms with everyone to embark the awaiting Shatabdi Express Train bound for Delhi.
This morning the allure of the Bengal Tiger can wait no longer. Your journey into the wilderness begins with a flight to Jabalpur, where on arrival you will be driven to Bandhavgarh National Park and your lodge hotel.
Bandhavgarh is set amidst the Vindhyan ranges. Claiming to have the highest density population of Bengal tiger in India, coupled with a population of leopard, nilgai, jackal, wild boar, sloth bear, gaur, sambar deer and colourful bird life, game drives are often peppered with sightings. Today and tomorrow, enjoy morning and afternoon game drives by jeep to see the incredible wildlife.
This morning very early we drive back to Jabalpur Airport to catch your 10:20 flight to Goa. Arriving into tropical paradise at around 16:20 our local driver is on hand to whisk you off to your hotel.
Sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter.
