Day 1: Kochi

Welcome to Kochi and the start of your India holiday with us. After you have passed through customs and bagage collection we will be there to meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 2: Kochi

Formerly a princely state, Kochi is also fondly referred to as “The Queen of the Arabian Sea”. This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. This evening enjoy a sunset cruise to see Chinese fishing nets at the entrance of Cochin Harbour.

Day 3: Kochi - Kothamangalam

Today you will drive to Kotamangalam. Upon arriving at your homestay you have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4: Kothamangalam

This morning you have at leisure. This evening you have the opportunity to attend a cooking class where you get to learn and taste the local cuisine.

Day 5: Kothamangalam - Munnar

A drive east to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendour. At a height of 1525 metres, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Enjoy the remainder of today at your leisure.

Day 7: Munnar - Alleppey

Today you will be transferred to Alleppey. Alleppey, is a tropical coastal town in a region webbed by canals and fishing areas on the southern coast of the state of Kerala. Lying on a narrow land spit between the Arabian Sea and Vembanad Lake, south of Kochi (formerly Cochin), southern coastal state of Kerala. The British opened Alleppey’s port to foreign trade in the late 18th century to end the commercial supremacy of the Dutch trading post at Porakad, a short distance away.

Day 8: Alleppey

Day 9: Alleppey

Today you will board the houseboat. The rice-boat is a simply furnished craft and consists of a thatched covered lounge/dining area, sleeping accommodation (with mosquito net) and a bathroom with a WC and washbasin. In the evening the boat is lit by hurricane lamps. Thatched awning on both sides of the boat allows the breeze and views to flow in. There is a small service area at the rear of the craft where the cook prepares simple meals using as many fresh provisions as can be plucked, caught or bought in the backwaters. A distance of some 20 kms will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colourful local villages.

Day 10: Alleppey

Spend the day at leisure on the rice- boat. Opt for a swim, soak up the sunshine, enjoy the scenic beauty of colourful villages and have a sumptuous meal on banana leaves. In the evening, witness sunset through coconut palms. Enjoy dinner under a million stars. Sleep and dream with the pleasant roll of the backwater.

Day 11: Alleppey - Varkala

Today you will drive Varkala. Varkala, a calm and quiet hamlet, lies on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram district. It has several places of tourist interests like a beautiful beach, a 2000 year old Vishnu temple and the ashramam- 'Sivagiri Mutt' a little distance from the beach. At the serene Varkala beach is a quiet sea resort rich in mineral water springs.A dip in the holy waters at this beach is believed to purge the body of impurities and the soul of all sins.

Day 14: Varkala

Today we bid you farewell and transfer you to Kochi airport for your onward flight.
