Vithura is a picturesque village in Kerala, surrounded by the Western Ghats and situated 36km from Thiruvananthapuram en route to the hill station Ponmudi. The village is blessed with a good climate and rich in natural beauty, with the Vamanapuram River flowing through it. Situated at the crossroads of various tourist, cultural and religious centres in Kerala, makes Vithura an excellent base for exploring this gorgeous region with its spice and rubber plantations, tea estates, lush green rice paddy fields and unbroken white, sandy beach line, with its azure waters and abundance of coconut trees.
Prominent tourist spots include Ponmudi, Peppara Dam, Meenmutty Falls, Bonacaud and Agastyakoodam. A short drive from Vithura stands a magnificent rock called Chittiparra, which is perched on a hill, close to Iruthalamoola; Chittiparra is a top spot for rock climbing. No visit would be complete without a visit to one of the local kalaris (Traditional Martial Arts Schools) and a local rubber plantation.
