Welcome to Israel and the start of your Biblical adventure. We'll be there to meet you at airport in Tel Aviv and transfer you directly to Jerusalem and to your hotel in town. (OVERNIGHT AT THE DAN JERUSALEM - FORMERLY HYATT HOTEL)
After breakfast, we start our day with a Panoramic View for the Old City of Jerusalem from Mount of Olives and begin our tour from the Chapel of ascension to Pater Noster Church and Dominus Flevit. Walk through Palm Sunday route to the Gardens of Gethsemane and Church of all Nations. Enter the Old city of Jerusalem from Saint Stephens Gate. Visit Saint Ann Church and Pools of Bethesda. Visit the Flagellation Chapel and Antonio Fortress. Enter the Temple Mount to visit the western Wall. Walk the Via Dolorosa to the Holy Sepulcher Church. Return to your hotel in the earlier evening. After breakfast, we will walk across the Kidron Valley along the "Last Way" to Mt. Zion. Stand next to the Southern Wall and view the City of David. Visit the Church of Peter in Gallicantu, the site where Peter denied our Lord three times. It was also the House of the High Priest Caiaphas where Jesus was interrogated. Visit the Last Supper Room and King David's Tomb then drive to Bethlehem and visit the Nativity Church marking the birthplace of Jesus, and the Shepherds Fields. Today is a matter of driving to the Allenby Bridge Border crossing with Jordan. You will be dropped off on the Israeli side and make your own way through the border using the shuttle service (pay locally) which is very straightforward. Arriving into the Jordan side, our local representative will be waiting for you with on the go tours on a sign, for the onward transfer to Amman.
This morning, we tour the citadel of Amman, Archaeological Museum. Then heading north, we visit Jerash, the Graeco-Roman city known as the ‘Pompeii of the East’. Built over 2,000 years ago, Jerash is widely regarded as the best-preserved city of the Decapolis, a confederation of 10 Roman cities dating from the 1st century! Meeting up with your pre booked local guide at the entrance you will explore the site taking in the colonnaded street, amphitheatre, nymphaeum, forum and more.
Morning we leave the city and head south visiting Mt Nebo - the single most important biblical site in Jordan. Onward to Madaba, famed for it’s Byzantine mosaics, including the fascinating map of the Holy Land made in the 6th century out of two million stone pieces and now housed in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George. Last stop Shobak Crusader castle to explore the nooks and crannies then continue the drive to Petra.
Get ready to be amazed! All but lost to the modern world until 1812, Petra is a real archaeological gem, full of ancient tombs and ruins ripe for the modern-day discoverer. We access Petra on horseback, through the mysterious mile-long Siq which leads to the spectacular façade of the Treasury (of Indiana Jones fame). This is just the beginning of a day filled with true adventure, where we'll explore amazing sights such as the Street of Facades, the Theatre, Colonnaded Street and Qasr al Bint.
Today we transfer to Wadi Rum for a 1hour 4x4 tour of the moonscape terrain which T. E. Lawrence described as “vast, echoing and God-like.” The desertscape of Wadi Rum is truly stunning with its ancient riverbeds and amazing eroded rock formations. We drive onward to the Dead Sea for some time to relax at the hotel.
Enjoy a free day at lowest point on the earth’s surface, the Dead Sea. Take a dip in the mineral rich waters, where you'll bob around like a cork; there is certainly no risk of sinking here! Your skin will also receive a fabulous detox, thanks to the curative qualities of the water. The hotel has a world class Spa you can enjoy if you fancy booking a treatment or two.
Sadly your journey concludes, with an onward departure transfer to Amman's Queen Alia airport for your flight home.
