Today we embark on a fully guided tour of Jerusalem, a World Heritage Listed city. From the Mount of Olives we enjoy panoramic views of the Old City and Temple Mount. Arriving at the Old City and Temple Mount we discover the Western (Wailing) Wall - one of the Jewish faith’s most holy sites, which is visited by thousands of worshippers every day. After taking time to explore, we walk the Via Dolorosa - the path which Jesus walked, bowed under the weight of the cross to the Church of Holy Sepulchre. Weaving through the labyrinth of alleys in the Armenian and Jewish Quarters, we arrive at Mt. Zion to view the Last Supper Room and King David’s Tomb. Later this afternoon we tour West Jerusalem including Parliament Hill.
Crossing into the West Bank we arrive in Bethlehem and tour Shepherd’s Field and the Church of the Nativity. The picturesque village of Ein Kerem - birth site and Church of St John the Baptist is our next stop. This afternoon take a dip in the ever warm mineral rich waters of the Dead Sea. With its unusually high degree of buoyancy you can float without any effort at all and sinking is impossible!
Arriving at the holy town of Nazareth today, we visit Joseph’s Workshop, Mary’s Well and the Church of the Annunciation - believed to be place where Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would give birth to the Son of God. Leaving Nazareth we drive through Cana of Galilee and follow the trail of miracles to the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Visiting Tabgha - the site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fish, Capernaum and Mount of Beautitudes - where Jesus was said to deliver the Sermon on the Mount.
Today we explore Tel Aviv, Israel’s most cosmopolitan city, with sandy white beaches fringing its western shore. Waterside restaurants and coffee shops serve ethnic food alongside gourmet dishes which can be enjoyed this evening along with a swim in the Mediterranean Sea. Later we travel on to the charismatic and beautiful city of Jaffa. Seaside Jaffa dates back thousands of years and is where St. Peter had his vision on the rooftop of the House of Simon the Tanner and raised Tabitha from the dead. Jonah set sail to Tarshish from Jaffa and King Solomon built his port on the Mediterranean there. Evening at leisure.
