Welcome to Egypt and the start of your incredible adventure with On the Go Tours! We'll be waiting for you at the international airport in Cairo ready to transfer you to your hotel where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure.
Today we will take you to visit the famous pyramids and lion-headed Sphinx at Giza Plateau. Sole survivors from the ancient Greek-listed Seven Wonders of the World, the pyramids are the planet’s oldest tourist attraction! Gaze in awe at Cheops (Khufu) - the largest of the three great pyramids. Constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks it is thought to have taken more than 20 years to construct. Continuing to the necropolis of Saqqara for more sights before transferring to the railway station for your overnight journey to Aswan.
Upon arrival into Aswan we will transfer you to your hotel where you can freshen up after your overnight journey. This afternoon enjoy a half day tour of the Philae Temple. Located on Agilika Island, the temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis and dates from the 4th century BC.
Today we make our way to Luxor by land. Along the way we stop to visit the double temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two distinct divinities - the crocodile-headed Sibek, god of fertility and creator of the world and Haroeris or the ancient falcon-headed Horus, the solar war god. You'll also visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, which has the distinction of being the largest and most completely preserved pharaonic, albeit Greek-built, temple in Egypt. Arrive Luxor and hotel check in.
Considered one of the world's largest open-air museums, Luxor is a marvel to explore. Today we tour the West Bank and visit the imposing Hatshepsut Temple and the incredible Valley of the Kings. Next we visit the East Bank to see the temples of Luxor and Karnak. Later this evening we transfer you to the Luxor railway station for your overnight train back to Cairo.
Upon arrival into Cairo railway station we'll transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Amman, capital of neighbouring Jordan. Upon arrival into Amman you will be met by our local Jordanian representative and transferred to Petra (approx. 4hr drive). Hotel check in and remainder of afternoon at leisure.
Welcome to the Rose City! Access to the city on our guided exploration is through the famous narrow, deep siq. The rocks then give way to the most amazing site – that of the fantastically impressive Treasury. Walking down the gravel tracks, we’ll explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rock-carved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates, public buildings and more the intrepid can ascend to Ad Deir better known as the monestery.
Departing Petra this morning we head north to Allenby Bridge where you say goodbye to Jordan and cross the border into Israel. Once through immigration, you'll meet our local Israeli rep who will then transfer you to the holiest of cities, Jerusalem.
Today we head to the spectacular Old City through one of the fabled gates on a shared coach tour. Within its mighty walls we explore the renewed Jewish Quarter, the 2,000 year old Western Wall, Via Dolorosa – the route that Jesus is believed to have taken as he carried his cross to Calvary, and the Stations of the Cross ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the holiest Christian site in the Old City. We’ll also have time to wander the colourful bazaars and pick up some souvenirs. Later we make our way to Mount Zion to visit the tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey. Spend the rest of the afternoon in Bethlehem visiting the Church of the Nativity and enjoying the views of Shepherds’ Fields.
This morning we head out for another full day of sightseeing on a shared coach tour around the Holy Land. We take in the sights of Nazareth – the home of Joseph and Mary, visiting the famous Churches of the Annunciation and St. Joseph. Heading North via Cana – where Jesus turned water into wine, we reach the shores of the Sea of Galilee and visit the significant Christian sites of Capernaum, historic Tiberias and Tabgha - site of the legendary Sermon on the Mount and the feeding of the 5000. We travel back to Jerusalem where you can spend your final night soaking up the atmosphere of this revered city.
Today marks the end of your adventure with On the Go Tours. After breakfast and hotel check out we will transfer you to the international airport in Tel Aviv for your onward departure flight.
