Welcome to Tel Aviv and the beginning of your pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel. Today you will be met by a representative and we drive to Tiberias and you are taken to your hotel where you can relax for the evening and enjoy dinner with friends. Feel free to explore the city at your leisure this evening.
Good morning. This morning we take a boat ride on the sea of Galillee where we visit Tabgha, the site of the miracle of fish and loaves, and visit the Church of Multiplication with its 4th century mosaic floor. This is followed by a visit to Capernaum, said to be the former home of St Peter. It's then off to Mount of Beatitudes, the place where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Return to Tiberias for the night to enjoy some relazing time or explore the town. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
Today after breakfast we drive to Nazareth, a pilgrimage city for Christians due to its mention in the New Testament as Jesus' childhood home, the city contains many biblical shrines. Along the coast we visit Caesarea, one of the great cities of antiquity and we also visit Mt Carmel, the place visited by Elijah and the Prophets. It's then off to the hotel to enjoy dinner and some free time.
After enjoying a lovely breakfast the group will be visiting historical sights such as Mt of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane and Mt Zion to see the Upper Room and visit King David's tomb. We also take in the infamous Western Wall, a favorite and must for all pilgrimages. We also see Via Dolorosa and the Holy Sepulcher. We end the day with a visit and communion at the Garden Tomb. We then return to the hotel to enjoy dinner. Be sure to ask your guide for some ideas to spend the evening.
An excursion today takes us to the remarkable scenery of the Dead Sea and Masada, a UNESCO-listed fortress situated on an isolated cliff in the Judean Desert. We ascend by cable car to the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their war against the Romans. Here we visit the excavations of King Herod’s palace, the synagogue and bathhouse. The site also offers spectacular views of the Roman camps and the Dead Sea. We’ll also see the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered and enjoy floating on the salty, mineral-rich waters (weather permitting), before heading back to Jerusalem for an evening meal.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out to Ein Karem in the Jerusalem area, the birth place of John the Baptist. The afternoon is spent visiting Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus; where we visit Manger Square and the Church of Nativity, which is reputed to be the oldest Church in the world and the site where Jesus was born. Spend the evening at leisure in Jerusalem.
After a lovely breakfast we discover new Jerusalem, starting with the official memorial site of Yad Vashem, a sprawling complex dedicated to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. The afternoon is free to enjoy and explore the area at your own pace before returning to the hotel for dinner and a final night before the journey home.
