Welcome to Egypt and the start of your exclusive journey through the Land of the Pharaohs! Arriving into Cairo airport early Am you will meet our team, who wait to transfer you to your hotel. Today we tour the Pyramids at Giza Plateau, and the tomb-strewn necropolis of Saqqara. This evening we take you to the Nile River bank t board your cruise for a lovely dinner cruising on the Nile.
This morning we fly to Amman in Jordan, here our local team are on standby to transfer you to Petra. First we make a stop to visit the Mosaics of Madaba, in particular the Map of the holy land at St Georges Church and have a nice lunch.
Get ready to be amazed! All but lost to the modern world until 1812, Petra is a real archaeological gem, full of ancient tombs and ruins ripe for the modern-day discoverer. We access Petra on horseback, through the mysterious mile-long Siq which leads to the spectacular façade of the Treasury (of Indiana Jones fame). This is just the beginning of a day filled with true adventure, where we’ll explore amazing sights such as the Street of Facades, the Theatre, Colonnaded Street and Qasr al Bint.
Early this morning we transfer to Wadi Rum for a 4x4 tour of the moonscape terrain which T. E. Lawrence described as “vast, echoing and God-like.” The desertscape of Wadi Rum is truly stunning with its ancient riverbeds and amazing eroded rock formations. When complete, we make our way to the Dead Sea, stopping along the way at Mt Nebo, which is the site that Moses saw the Holy Land.
Spend the morning at the Dead Sea enjoying a swim in the water. This afternoon our guide will take you to the Jordan River, to see the very spot where it is claimed that Jesus Christ was baptized. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
This morning we drive to the Allenby Bridge crossing with Israel. You will be dropped off Jordan side and collected Israel side meaning that you make your own way through immigration and customs check point. Arriving Israel side, meet our driver who will take you to Jerusalem.
Start the day with the spectacular panoramic views from Mt. Scopus before a stop at the Mount of Olives, the site where Jesus first gave the Lord’s Prayer. We visit the Garden of Gethsemane before heading to the Old City where we see the Western Wall, the Temple Mount, Via Dolorosa and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Just outside of the Old City is Mount Zion with the traditional tomb of King David and the Room of the Last Supper.
We discover new Jerusalem, starting with the official memorial site of Yad Vashem, a sprawling complex dedicated to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. After paying our respects we head to Ein Karem, a picturesque village where John the Baptist was born. Spend some time in the Israel Museum visiting the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a detailed model of Jerusalem from the time of the Second Temple. Passing the Knesset (House of Parliament) and the campus of the Hebrew University we make our way to Bethlehem where we visit Rachel’s Tomb and the Church of the Nativity.
This morning we head to Tiberius on the Sea of Gaslilee. During the way we visit Cana to see the Wedding Church where Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine. Nazareth, the city where Jesus spent his childhood, where we visit the Church of Annunciation, Mary’s Well and Joseph’s Church. We also explore Beit Shean and explore the excavations of this beautifully preserved Roman city, destroyed in an earthquake.
Today we visit Capernaum, an ancient fishing village and the centre of Jesus’ ministry. In Tabgha, the site where Christ miraculously fed the 5,000, we see the wonderful mosaic floor of the Church of Multiplication before continuing to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus preached the ‘Sermon on the Mount’. Ascending to the rocky plateau of the Golan Heights we enjoy panoramic views of the rugged peaks of Mount Hermon with the green pastoral Huleh valley stretching out below.
First stop this morning is Megiddo, the location of many ancient battles and the city referred to in the book of Revelation as ‘Armageddon’. Here we explore the archaeological ruins before driving to explore Haifa for the afternoon. (OVERNIGHT AT THE HOTEL DAN PANORAMA)
This morning we depart down the coast and explore Caesarea, one of the great cities of antiquity then our drive brings us to Jaffa, an ancient port where we enjoy a walking tour of the picturesque fortified town, see the House of Simon the Tanner and marvel at the hilltop views. When complete we make our way to Tel Aviv for your last night in Israel. (OVERNIGHT AT THE HOTEL PRIMA CITY)
