Day 2: Jerash & Ajloun Nature Reserve
Amman - Jerash - Ajloun Forest Nature Reserve. Our first yoga session in Jordan, around the pool of our hotel, allows us to stretch our muscles and feel the atmosphere of this fascinating country. After breakfast we drive through the hills of biblical Gilead for the Roman city of Jerash. Mentioned in the Bible as one of the ten cities of the Roman Decapolis, Jerash is one of the best-preserved Roman cities anywhere around the Mediterranean. With two fantastic theatres, an oval plaza and over 800 columns still standing Jerash is one of Jordan's biggest surprises. As we walk along the Cardo Maximus (main street) we will be able to feel the ridges in the stones made by chariot tracks nearly 2,000 years ago.

Leaving Jerash we make the short drive to the Ajloun Forest nature reserve, run by Jordan’s Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) and hidden away within north Jordan’s hilly woodlands of oak and pistachio. Our evening yoga session will be on the roof of the forest lodge, with its panoramic views over the wooded countryside. Overnight - Ajloun Forest Reserve (B, D)

After lunch we head south to the RSCN’s Dana Biosphere nature reserve, where we are staying at the beautiful, isolated Rummana campsite. Rummana is located at approximately 1,500 metres above sea level, in the stunning Dana mountains, and is the perfect location for an early summer stay in Jordan. Petra’s most famous facade, the Treasury, is located at the end of the 1.2km Siq gorge – a twisting and winding approach to the city that never fails to mesmerise: it’s the highlight of any trip to Jordan. Vinyasa Flow Yoga in Jordan

Most Yoga holidays are aimed at hard-core Yogis, or at least people that want a retreat camp where Yoga is at the very reason for their holiday. At On the Go we like to do things a little differently. Our 8 day Yoga tour of Jordan follow the Vinyasa Flow style of yoga, which is a dynamic discipline derived from Ashtanga yoga. The word ‘Vinyasa’ literally means ‘connecting movement between the postures with the breath.’ With our professional Yoga teacher we have taken the connecting movement element a step further as you will be having yoga classes throughout Jordan. The fabulous scenery and magnificent landscapes will be the backdrop for some spectacular Yoga classes.

There will be Yoga under the stars of Wadi Rum, Jordan’s fabulous desert, a session on the banks of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth and one on the roof of a wilderness lodge deep in the Jordan’s premier nature reserve. Each of the Yoga locations has been chosen to enhance your experience and tour of Jordan. We have a morning and evening session planned each day of the tour, so that leaves the rest of the time free to explore this enchanting land.
