Today is the start of your Jordan adevnture. Upon arrival into Amman international airport you will be met by your tour guide and transferred to your beautiful hotel at the Dead Sea. Descending some 1300 metres to the lowest point on the earth's surface we arrive at the Dead Sea. Sitting at 422 metres below sea level we spend the afternoon swimming, lathering up with a detoxifying mud bath and bobbing about in the ever warm mineral-rich body of water.
After a good night sleep and your morning breakfast we transfer you to the beautiful coastal resort of Aqaba. Enroute we stop off at some of the marvelous ancient sites that Jordan has to offer. Upon arrival you will be taken to your hotel where and have the remainder of the day at your leisure.
You have 3 more days to sit back and relax in Aqaba. YOu can choose to sit at the pool side soaking up rays sipping on cocktails or perhaps visit the beach and try your hand at the many water sports on offer, you can also choose to go SCUBA diving.
Today after 4 days of R&R we head to the incredible Rose City more commonly known as Petra. En route we stop off at Wadi Rum where you have the option to take a jeep tour of this moonscape desert terrain. Upon arrival to Petra you will be taken to your hotel where you have the remainder of the day at your leisure.
This morning after breakfast you have a fully guided tour of this archaeological wonder. walk through the mysterious mile-long Siq, the narrow gorge with towering sandstone walls which leads into the ancient capital city of the Nabatean trading empire. Explore the Khazneh (the temple of Indiana Jones fame), Theater, Colonnaded Street and Museum. After lunch, climb to ad-Deir (the Monastery), Petra’s largest carved façade. Later this evening we will take you on a candle lit tour of the site.
This morning you are free at your leisure to have one last look at Petra before heading to the Jordanian capital Amman. En route we stop at the haunted deserted city of Umm ar Rasas, the site of the now ruinous Roman garrison town of Kastron Mefaa, which developed during the Byzantine and Umayyad periods into a relatively important city. Large mosaic floors from two of its dozen or more churches have been painstakingly cleaned and protected.
We Head north this morning and visit Jerash, the Graeco-Roman city known as the ‘Pompeii of the East’. Built over 2,000 years ago, Jerash is widely regarded as the best-preserved city of the Decapolis, a confederation of 10 Roman cities dating from the 1st century! We’ll explore the site taking in the colonnaded street, amphitheatre, nymphaeum, forum and more before continuing to Umm Qais (Gadara), a dramatic black-basalt Roman city of the Decapolis with panoramic views over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
This morning, we tour the citadel of Amman, Archaeological Museum and enjoy free time shopping in the local souq, before visiting Mt Nebo - the single most important biblical site in Jordan. Having led the Israelites for 40 years through the wilderness, Moses finally saw, from this awesome vantage point, the Promised Land, that God forbid him to set foot in. We too can enjoy the excellent views offered of the Jordan River Valley, the northern shore of the Dead Sea, Jericho on the opposite bank and (on clear days) the towers on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
After picking up some last minute souvenirs and having a stroll around town we will transfer you back to the airport for your onward flight home.
