Welcome to Jordan. We will pick you up from your flight arriving this evening and transfer you to the hotel in Amman.
Today we drive through Wadi Araba to Faynan at the lower, western end of the Dana Nature Reserve. Unique in the Middle East region, Dana NR is a protected region overseen by Jordan’s RSCN (Royal Society for the Protection of Nature) combining scientific research, social reconstruction and sustainable tourism. This afternoon you will have a walk with a guide, seeing the flora and fauna of the region.
Drive to Petra for a full days sightseeing tour of the rose city. Today we enter by the Siq and visit the Treasury, Street of Facades, Theater, Museum and ad-Deir, Petra’s largest carved façade.
Today we visit Siq al Barid (Lttle Petra), the Northern Nabaten customs point outside the bounds of the city of Petra. Walk to the Baidha Neolithic site to visit one of man's earliest known agricultural settlements, over 9,000 years old. Continue hiking cross-country by Wadi Merwan, arriving by Petra's back door to ad-Deir the Monastery. This evening you will experience Petra by Night, lit up by hundreds of candles.
This morning (mid morning) we leave Petra and head to the Dead Sea. The mineral-rich Dead Sea offers bathers ultimate buoyancy to the point where you will feel like a cork bobbing about! Take a dip in the mineral-rich waters. In addition and perhaps famously, the intense salinity creates an unusually high degree of buoyancy.
We set off for Amman today, arriving mid afternoon into the capital city. We will check you into the hotel and the rest of the day is free.
Today we driving north and visit the Roman ruins of Jerash. Recognised as one of the best-preserved member cities of the Decapolis, Jerash is deservedly one of Jordan’s major attractions. The traditional Roman street is very impressive and still boasts chariot ruts, the South Theatre boasts astonishing ancient amplification. We head back to Amman and transfer you to the airport for your flight this evening.
