Today we driving north and visit the Roman ruins of Jerash. Recognised as one of the best-preserved member cities of the Decapolis, Jerash is deservedly one of Jordan’s major attractions. The traditional Roman street is very impressive and still boasts chariot ruts, the South Theatre boasts astonishing ancient amplification. We continue to Umm Qais, a dramatic black-basalt Roman city and then Aljun before returning to Amman.
Today we head out for an easy 2 hour hike into the main gorge of the Mujib River - also known as the Siq. This starts at the visitor centre near the Mujib Bridge, from where you take the cantilevered walkway over the dam and follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, the gorge may contain pools deep enough for swimming. It's an ideal walk to take slowly and enjoy the cool water and shade, especially in the heat of the summer.
This morning enjoy a city tour of Amman including a visit to the Citadel, Archaeological Museum and Souq. We then visit Karak Crusader Castle before continuing south to Dana National Reserve for dinner and overnight.
Dhana Nature Reserve is a system of Wadis and mountains which extends from the top of the Rift Valley down to the desert lowlands of Wadi Araba. Dhana is truly a world of natural treasures. Today enjoy a full day with your RSCN guide enjoy trekking some of the great trails around the Wadi below the village. Look out for ibex, gazelle and the sand cat. At night you may even here the wolves howling.
After breakfast at the guest house, to continue on to explore medieval Shobak Castle, and visit Siq al Barid ("Little Petra"), the northern Nabatean customs point outside the bounds of the city of Petra.
Welcome to the Rose City! Access to the city on our guided exploration is through the famous narrow, deep siq. The rocks then give way to the most amazing site – that of the fantastically impressive Treasury. Walking down the gravel tracks, we’ll explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rock-carved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates, public buildings and more the intrepid can ascend to Ad Deir, better known as the monestery.

Today we will drive to Wadi Rum. A vast, silent landscape of ancient riverbeds, pastel coloured stretches of sandy desert and amazing eroded rock formations that rise from the desert floor. The region is also home to semi-nomadic Bedouin living in their great goat hair tents. Today enjoy a 2 hour Jeep tour in a 4x4. Tonight, we enjoy a Jordanian dinner and overnight camping in the heart of the Wadi Rum protected area.
After breakfast at the camp site, we travel north again to the Dead Sea for a few days relaxation.
Sink or swim? There is no chance of either occurring at the Dead Sea. The mineral-rich Dead Sea offers bathers ultimate buoyancy to the point where you will feel like a cork bobbing about!
Today you bid farewell to Jordan. We will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
