Welcome to Jordan and the start of your holiday! On Arrival into Amman you will be met at the airport and transferred to the Dead Sea. Overnight - Evason Six Senses
Today if time permits we visit Jerash, the world’s best-preserved Roman provincial city, built over 2,000 years ago and known as the ‘Pompeii of the East’. Here if time permits we visit the Forum, with its forest of towering columns, the arena, where the tracks of chariot wheels can still be seen, the souk area, Temple of Artemis and the South Theatre with its near-perfect acoustics. We continue to Hammamat Ma'in for the evening. Overnight - Evason Six Senses
Hammamat Ma'in- Madaba - Feynan. Today we drive to Madaba. Mentioned in the Old Testament, the prime attractions of the venerable town of Madaba are its many 6th-century Byzantine mosaics. Perhaps the most impressive of these is an enormous 6th-century map of Palestine and Egypt that is located in St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. The nearby mosaic school, established to teach the restoration of these rare artworks, is the only one of its kind in the Middle East. Small shops sell excellent copies of miniature mosaics. At nearby Mt Nebo it is believed Moses looked over the Promised Land. Excellent views are offered from Mt Nebo, the single most important biblical site in Jordan. We continue south to Feynan. Overnight Feynan
Feynan- Little Petra. Today we enjoy a 4 hour walking tour of Wadi Feynan before continuing to little Petra and the Baidha Neolithic village, hidden away in the centre of a mountain, with a classical temple standing guard outside the mini-siq. Although much smaller than Petra, Baidha is crammed to the brim with tombs, temples and houses. Overnight Petra
Get ready to be amazed! All but lost to the modern world until 1812, Petra is a real archaeological gem, full of ancient tombs and ruins ripe for the modern-day discoverer. We access Petra on horseback, through the mysterious mile-long Siq which leads to the spectacular façade of the Treasury (of Indiana Jones fame). This is just the beginning of a day filled with true adventure, where we’ll explore amazing sights such as the Street of Facades, the Theatre, Colonnaded Street and Qasr al Bint. Lawrence described as “vast, echoing and God-like.” The desertscape of Wadi Rum is truly stunning with its ancient riverbeds and amazing eroded rock formations. We trek to visit Um Frouth Rock Bridge. Overnight -Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum - Aqaba. Today after enjoying breakfast at the campsite we continue to Aquba for a free afternoon and overnight. This southern seaport town on the Gulf of Aqaba provides Jordan’s only access to the sea. It’s an ancient city: Solomon, the Queen of Sheba and Lawrence of Arabia are amongst Aqaba’s past guests. The sleepy fishing village was only dragged into modernity following a deal struck with neighbouring Saudi Arabia whereby Jordan was granted a couple of extra kilometres of coastline and coral reef south of the now modern town. Arriving into the port of Aqaba, you may be struck by how big Aqaba appears. Sweeping around the Gulf of Aqaba are indeed two settlements. To the left is Eilat in the State of Israel and to the right is Aqaba, Jordan. Overnight- Aqaba
Aqaba- Dead Sea. Driving north via Wadi Araba, you’ll stop at Lot’s Cave and the Dead Sea Panorama point. Later a city tour of Bethany before descending to the lowest point on the earth’s surface, the Dead Sea . Take a dip in the mineral rich waters, where you’ll bob around like a cork; there is certainly no risk of sinking here! Your skin will also receive a fabulous detox, thanks to the curative qualities of the water. Enjoy a free day relaxing by the Dead Sea . Perhaps treat yourself to a Dead Sea spa treatment or two; everybody deserves a little pampering on holiday. Overnight - Dead Sea
