Day 1: Cairo

Welcome to Egypt and the start of your holiday! When you Arrive Cairo we will be there to meet you with an onward transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Cairo

Today we see the treasures of King Tutankhamen, mummies and more at the Egyptian Museum. In the afternoon we explore the Citadel and the bustling Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Overnight Cairo

Day 3: Cairo - Luxor

Today a visit to the incredible pyramids and Sphinx at Giza Plateau. It’s estimated the largest - Khufu (Cheops) was constructed from no less than 2.5 million quarried limestone blocks, weighing around 6 million tonnes. No mean feat, when you consider the pyramids were built without the use of modern equipment! Maybe opt for a camel ride. Travelling on to the necropolis of Saqqara, innumerable sand strewn temples and tombs await discovery. It’s at Saqqara where you’ll see Zhoser’s step pyramid. Rising 6 steps, it served as the prototype for ancient Egypt’s most enduring architectural legacy. Overnight train to Luxor - a Sleeper cabin. Overnight - Train

Day 4: Luxor - Cairo

This morning we cross to the West Bank of the Nile. The massive pair of statues known as the Colossi of Memnon are the first monuments we’ll see as we start our day's sightseeing. They are all that remains of the temple of Amenophis III. Today, we visit the Valleys of the Kings and the imposing colonnaded temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Returning to our hotel, we enjoy free time before visiting Karnak. More than a temple, Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, pylons and obelisks- built on a grand scale. During the height of Theban power, Karnak was the most important place of worship. Tonight, we return to Cairo by overnight train. Overnight - Train.

Day 5: Cairo - Petra

Transfer to the airport for a flight to Amman in Jordan (we can book this flight on your behalf). Upon arrival at Amman's Queen Alia airport you will be met and transferred directly to Petra, a 2 hour drive away. Check in to your hotel and spend the remains of the day at leisure. Overnight - Petra

Day 6: Petra

Begin the day with a walk through the mysterious mile-long Siq, the narrow gorge with towering sandstone walls which leads into the ancient capital city of the Nabatean trading empire. Explore the Khazneh (the temple of Indiana Jones fame), Theatre, Colonnaded Street and Museum. After lunch, climb to ad-Deir (the Monastery), Petra’s largest carved façade. Overnight - Petra

Day 7: Petra - Wadi Rum

This morning we can return to the Rose Red city for further exploration on your own. Then drive to Wadi Rum for a 4x4 desert safari before enjoying a traditional Jordanian dinner and a night camping in the desert. Overnight - Wadi Rum

Day 8: Wadi Rum - Dead Sea

Wadi Rum - Karak - Dead Sea. This morning, we explore the well preserved 12th century crusader castle of Al Karak (or Shobak) before descending to the Dea Sea. Sitting at 422 metres below sea level we spend the afternoon swimming, lathering up with a detoxifying mud bath and bobbing about in the ever warm mineral-rich body of water. Overnight – Dead Sea.

Day 9: Dead Sea - Jerusalem

Dead Sea – Jerusalem. This morning you’ll be transferred to the Jordanian border where after immigration formalities you will transfer by public shuttle bus over the border into Israel, here you’ll be met by a driver and transferred to your hotel in Jerusalem. The afternoon and evening offer free time. Today is the Sabbath and offers good opportunity to explore the World Heritage Listed city on foot without the usual hubbub. Overnight - Jerusalem

Day 10: Jerusalem

This morning we head out for another full day of sightseeing around the Holy Land. We take in the sights of Nazareth – the home of Joseph and Mary, visiting the famous Churches of the Annunciation and St. Joseph. Heading North via Cana – where Jesus turned water into wine, we reach the shores of the Sea of Galilee and visit the significant Christian sites of Capernaum, historic Tiberias and Tabgha - site of the legendary Sermon on the Mount and the feeding of the 5000. We travel back to Jerusalem where you can spend your final night soaking up the atmosphere of this revered city

Day 11: Jerusalem

Our tour concludes after breakfast and onward departure transfer to the airport.
