Day 1: Cairo

Welcome to Egypt and the start of your holiday. We will be there to meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 2: Cairo

Today, enjoy a visit to the Pyramids at Giza, one of the sole survivors from the ancient Greek listed Seven Wonders of the World. In front of the pyramids sits the Sphinx, an enormous statue with the face of a man and body of a lion. Later, we explore the necropolis of Saqqara, with its litany of ancient tombs and famous centre piece, Zhoser’s step pyramid.

Day 3: Cairo

We start the day’s sightseeing with a trip to the Egyptian Museum to see the dazzling antiquities of ancient Egypt on display there, including the amazing treasures of King Tutankhamen. This afternoon we take a tour of Old Coptic Cairo, where we’ll find the Citadel and some of the oldest Christian churches in the world, including the Hanging Church. Later today we head to the train station for the over night journey to Aswan.

Day 4: Cairo - Aswan

Arrive into Aswan and hotel check in. This afternoon we travel out of town to visit the mighty High Dam; a modern feat of engineering, the by-product for this immense construction is Lake Nasser-the world’s largest artificial lake! We will also take a trip to the Philae Temple on Agilika Island, which is dedicated to the goddess Isis.

Day 5: Aswan - Nile Cruising

This morning a visit out of town takes us to the mighty High Dam – a modern feat of engineering, the by–product for which is Lake Nasser, the world’s largest artificial lake! Continuing, we enjoy a short boat trip to Agilika Island for the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. On your return we check into your 5 star Nile cruise boat.

Day 6: Nile Cruising

It’s an early start today as we fly south to Abu Simbel, possibly the greatest and most awe-inspiring temple of ancient Egypt, created to revere the mighty pharaonic ruler King Ramses II. The four colossal statues of the pharaoh himself guard the entrance to this mighty temple with its spectacular rock-cut facade. Returning to Aswan there's time to amble around the towns excellent souk and relax by the Nile before boarding a luxury Nile Cruiser.

Day 7: Nile Cruising

Anchors away, as we set sail up the Nile. Relax, enjoy the facilities onboard and soak up the sun. We stop en-route to visit the unique, riverside temple of Kom Ombo, with its perfectly symmetrical architecture.

Day 8: Nile Cruising - Luxor

This morning we disembark the cruiser and tour the West Bank, home to the legendary Valley of the Kings, with its myriad of tombs, temples and monuments. The first monuments you’ll see are the imposing Colossi of Memnon; these massive enthroned statues are all that remains of the temple of Amenophis. The often highly decorated tombs were constructed to once house the regal sarcophagi enclosed mummies of the mighty pharaohs awaiting their passage into the after-life. We also visit the Valley of the Queens (where the pharaohs’ wives were laid to rest), the colonnaded Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the spectacular Karnak temple, which is dedicated to the Theban gods. Day 9: Luxor - Dead Sea

Arrive into Cairo and transfer to the airport for a flight to Amman in Jordan (we can book this flight on your behalf). Upon arrival we transfer to the lowest point on earth - the Dead Sea; a natural phenomena, where you float like a cork in the intensely salt rich waters. The high concentration of mineral salts in the sea also gives your skin a fabulous detox!

Day 10: Dead Sea

Time for a bit of pampering - perhaps enjoy a day at the Dead Sea spa. Free day to relax by the Dead Sea

Day 11: Dead Sea - Petra

The morning is at leisure. Depart in the afternoon, driving along the Dead Sea’s eastern shoreline and then up to tour the Karak Crusader Castle. The magnificent Crusader fortress of Karak - Crak des Moabites, or Le Pierre du Desert to Crusaders - soars above its valleys and hills like a great ship riding waves of rock. We continue to Petra for the night.

Day 12: Petra

Today we explore Petra. Taking a walk through the mysterious siq (an ancient passage created due to a geological fissure) we are confronted by the rose-red facade of the Treasury. Amazing Nabataean and Roman ruins are on tap here at Petra. The intrepid can ascend the many stone carved steps to Ad-Deir better known as the Monastery.

Day 13: Petra - Amman

We have free time in Petra this morning before we head to Madaba. Famed for it’s Byzantine mosaics, including the fascinating map of the Holy Land made in the 6th century out of two million stone pieces and now housed in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, Madaba, its mosaics and little shops offers us gentle respite.

Day 14: Amman

Today we driving north and visit the Roman ruins of Jerash. Recognised as one of the best-preserved member cities of the Decapolis, Jerash is deservedly one of Jordan’s major attractions. The traditional Roman street is very impressive and still boasts chariot ruts. We continue to Ajlun before returning to Amman.

Day 15: Amman

Transfer to the airport in time for your international flight back home. (International flight not included).
