Welcome to Jordan and the start of your holiday! We will be there to meet you at the airport and transfer through to your hotel in Petra. If time allows with your fight times today, we could look at including some sight-seeing today enroute to Petra.
Today enjoy a full days guided tour. Possibly the jewel in Jordan’s glittering archaeological crown, Petra is accessed on a walk through a penetrative, narrow deep siq. The treasure at the end of your walk through the siq is the hidden valley where the Rose City of Petra lies. As you reach the end of the Siq, you’ll come across the spectacular façade of Al-Kazneh – the Treasury of Petra.
Driving north you’ll stop for a visit at Shoback Castle, following this we visit Madaba - Famed for it’s Byzantine mosaics, including the fascinating map of the Holy Land made in the 6th century out of two million stone pieces and now housed in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, Madaba - the most important Christian centre in Jordan, its mosaics. We continue onto Mt Nebo - Sitting on the edge of the East Bank plateau, it is where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, before arriving at the Dead Sea.
Straddling the border between Jordan and Israel, the Dead Sea is the lowest spot on the earth’s surface. Obviously, power boating is an impossibility but floating is very much so! Whilst giving your skin the best detox it will ever have had thanks to the curative qualities of the water, the salt-rich waters will have you bobbing about just like a cork. Enjoy the spa facilities, best pre booked prior to travel.
Today we bid you farewell with a transfer to Amman airport to meet your onward flight.
