Welcome to the Rose City! Access to the city on our guided exploration is through the famous narrow, deep siq. The rocks then give way to the most amazing site – that of the fantastically impressive Treasury. Walking down the gravel tracks, we’ll explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rock-carved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates, public buildings and more. The more intrepid can ascend to Ad Deir better known as the monestery.
This morning we revisit Petra with entry by al-Madras before we drive you to Wadi Rum. Wadi Rum is a vast, silent landscape of ancient riverbeds, pastel coloured stretches of sandy desert and amazing eroded rock formations that rise from the desert floor, The region is also home to semi-nomadic Bedouin living in their great goat hair tents tonight, we enjoy a Jordanian dinner tonight at your camp.
This morning we depart for the Dead Sea and visit the Karak Crusader Castle enroute. The magnificent Crusader fortress of Karak - Crak des Moabites, or Le Pierre du Desert to Crusaders - soars above its valleys and hills like a great ship riding waves of rock. Enjoy the afternoon bobbing like a cork in the salt water before transferring to Madaba. Tonight we enjoy at the Haret Jdoudna Restaurant.
Subject to opening times and your confirmed departure details, there maybe the opportunity to explore some of Madaba this morning. Booked and paid locally if not arranged in advance of travel. We then bid you farewell with a transfer to the airport to meet your onward flight at midday.
