Highlights include the corniche with views of the infamous pigeon rocks, the reconstructed Solidere district, Mouawad Museum in the Pharaon Palace and a tasty lunch at the local farmers market. Explore the breathtaking Qadisha Valley, one of the world's deepest valleys. A steep-sided gorge with the Qadisha River at its bottom. Some of the earliest and most important Christian monastic houses are found in the Qadisha Valley with its rock cut chapels, grottoes, hermitages and frescoes dating back to the 12th Century cut into the side of the valley. Afterwards journey to the historic northern city of Tripoli. Lebanon's second largest city is a lively metropolis with many fascinating historic sites and colourful souks, dating back to the 6th Century BC when it was established as a Phoenician trading port and over time has been influenced and settled by the Romans, Byzantine, The Crusaders, Arabs and Ottoman. Today take a boat trip to the famous Jeitta Grottos, a huge labyrinthine cavern, a system of 2 seperate but interconnected limestone caves with an overall length of nearly 9 kilometres. Consisting of an upper and lower cave, the lower cave can only be visited by boat via an underground river. The caves also house a large and spectacular lake as well as what is considered to be the world's longest stalactite at 8.2 metres.

Then it's time to return above ground and travel by scenic cable car up to Harissa to see the towering statue of Our Lady of Lebanon before continuing on to explore the ancient sights of Byblos, a stunning Mediterranean port city believed to date back to 5000 BC. Overnight - Beirut (B)

Day 5 is free for you to explore the sights of Beirut. On day 6 visit the remarkable Roman ruins of Baalbek, one of the most spectacular and best preserved examples of Roman ruins in the world and one of Lebanon's greatest treasures. In its heyday baalbek, then known as Heliopolis, was one of the largest Roman sanctuaries.

En route stop to visit Lebanon's leading wine producer, the famous Ksara winery and sample some of their excellent wine or Arak, the National Lebanese drink. Continuing on to the UNESCO listed fortified village of Anjar, only rediscovered by archaeologists in the 1940s, and built during the beginning of the Islamic period which can be seen in the architecture. Tour the magnificent Beiteddine palace, a prime example of 19th Century Lebanese architecture and a place of exquisite beauty located in the Chouf district of Lebanon. While in Chouf you'll also visit the picturesque Chouf Cedar Reserve, famous for its three magnificent cedar forests. The final stop for the day is Deir el Qamar village, where you'll see the 15th century Fakhreddine Mosque and Palace, and Moussa Castle. Moussa Castle stands as testament to one man following his dream of owning a castle, it was built over a period of 60 years single handedly by Moussa Abdel Karim Al-Maamari, and took him the greater part of a lifetime to complete.
