We offer a range of opportunities for you to get to know the locals and learn about their culture and lifestyle whilst travelling. The best way to learn about any culture is to live in the homes of the people, and participate in day to day activities.
In Africa there's the opportunity to mingle with the Masai in Kenya, whilst on our 3 day Hwange bolt on the Vic Falls border of Zimbabwe you can combine wild dogs, with game drives and a visit to a local Community Primary Schools project where you can learn about rural African living. Moving north there's a chance to get your hands dirty on our Eco Egypt tour, which mixes cleaning the Nile with visits to a Children's home for the homeless and disabled as well as seeing the top tourist spots. Or for a truly unique experience, accompany a nomadic Berber family as they make their bi-annual migration with their goats and sheep from the High Atlas to the lower Dades Valley in Morocco.
In South America there are homestays with the Amantani Islanders so that when the tourists go home you stay and get to know this isolated tribe on Lake Titicaca in Peru.
In Vietnam we offer the opportunity for you to stay with a local family in the lush Mekong Delta, meet the remote hill tribes in Sapa and Mai Chau and meet the fishing and farming communities in Tra Que.
Whether it's through community visits, trekking with Berbers or using homestay accommodation, where you can experience the warmth and hospitality of local people, our group tours and private journeys offer a wealth of opportunity to interact with local people and learn about their culture and customs.
